I don't think running windows on that thing is going to be a nice experience. Especially if it doesn't has SSD.
It seems he installed Mint on it. You're right as well, but at the same time, he didn't really specify if the computer has a SSD or not. If it doesn't, that would be the easiest and least expensive upgrade. Next will be RAM.
My favourite mouse is still Razer's Deathadder. Idk how tacky Razer is or how there's a bunch of better mice on the market, this one fits great in my hand and I love it

There's a new Firefox fork named Zen Browser. It is in alpha at the moment, but I'm hoping that it will become better and better overtime. For the moment, I haven't tried, but I plan to.

that's not something you hear very often (firefox forks)
TL;DR: 13th and 14th gen Us are mostly safe. Use the newest BIOS update for the motherboard you're buying and use the defaults. The entire situation seems to be a mixture of motherboard vendors pushing power to the absolute limit, poor microcode leading problems with boosting, variable quality control and management weirdness, alongside workloads being weird themselves.
I have been pwned in a data breach from The Internet Archive. Data was names, emails and s. If you have an there, might good to check if everything is fine.
In related news, some clown group on Twitter are such anti-social Twitter brainrot retards that they decide to DDOS The Internet Archive because the US government owns them and they enable Israel, expect the archive is ran by a non-profit, not the US government. Twitter retards being Twitter retards.

These guys are beyond retarded. full stop. They should've attack Visa or Mastercard or something.
Or is it an inside job by greedy corpos who are hell bent on destroying internet archive on the grounds of "copyright violaion"........ Who knows
Intel is doing what AMD did with Zen5: lay out the groundwork for new stuff in the future. The most notable change between the 14th gen and this new line is the fact that Intel says they have reduced the power consumption by half, while having the same performance as the 14900K. That would be really good for Intel. It seems they're working on a new socket too, with better pressure on the U, so the need for a frame is removed.
I'm personally intrigued to see how these new chips perform.

what nm?
intel still has a shit ton of catching up to do
man, idk what intel has done these last few gens, they just don't make them as tasty anymore
How tf does this happen
It was probably turned into a keychain and the circuit board yielded
I really love Narumi Toa. Like, a lot. Like, a whole lot. You have no idea. I love her so much that it is inexplicable, and I'm ninety-nine percent sure that I have an unhealthy obsession. I will never get tired of installing Gentoo Linux with -o3 -march=native -flto optimization flags on an AMD Ryzen 9950X bare metal using a fleet of 8 same specced machines for distcc. It is my life goal to meet up her with her in real life and have her configure my arch install for me
The article is also getting more and more personal and heated up as the post went on, which felt weird, but I dismissed at first. Seeing this thread, my original hunch was right. They also stopped selling in and Poland and Texas, as well as cutting communications with AMD entirely simply because they had bad experiences with coreboot maintainers and consultants. They might be childish too, but it seems Malibal took very personally. Very strange behavior overall.
What should I put on this old school laptop (preferably 32 bit stuff because it's on a 32 bit version of Windows (despite having a 64 bit U) and also preferably software that doesn't require )

If the U is 64-bit, then the Windows version is wrongly installed. Since the U is 64-bit, perhaps try Linux on it? Maybe make it into some sort of local network file server? Maybe a Jellyfin instance?

It used to be common to install 32 bits windows on lower-end 64 bits devices. Since 32 bits windows are allegedly use less resources to run.
They aren't. The API request that adblockers like uBlock Origin used were also used for malicious usage, so Google saw it as a security risk. I don't like this change either, but they aren't doing this to kill adblockers specifically. uBlock Origin Lite works just fine on Chrome from my testing for a casual . Google understands that if they actually go after adblockers, head on, they will lose their influence and power, more or less immediately.
I'd like to be more towards privacy-conscious ppl but I, as with many ppl, needs Google (and also GitHub for me (owned by Microsoft)) for school/work. And also use mainstream social media (not something most people don't even know what it is like Signal) to connect with ppl.
I sit somewhere between privacy conscious and activist according to this. I don't really sacrifice convenience that much, like I still use windows, switching to a privacy focused linux distro is way too inconvenient to be worth it for me.
I think for the most part I'm at normal, though I tend to randomly go to stage 2 or 3. For the most part though I'm at normal, since all my information is probably out there already.
I knew someone at stage 3, and was very close to stage 4. Really complicated OpSec. They were a pretty fucked up individual.
These new Intel Us are kind of weird. The launch was rushed and the power efficiency claim is very weird. The pricing for these Us is really bad too. That doesn't mean there aren't some good things here, but it's too little for anything significant. I'm disappointed with this new generation of Us, but at the same time, both of these generations are switching to new architectures. Let's hope that the next one will be better.
These thin clients are honestly super freaking cool. I love how boring they look, yet behind them is some super cool ass stuff. That keyboard also looks awesome!
So uhh... new Intel GPUs soon.
This is a must-win for Intel as if these suck, they're done. nice necropost ngl
12 and 10GB VRAM iirc, not great for 2025.
It's cheap but for that price it's like buying an older AMD/Nvidia GPU but with more risk of compatibility issues.

At 250$, 12GB or 10GB of VRAM is much better than what AMD or Nvidia are offering at this price point and going over 10GBs will be hard, considering the fact that this price point, we're still in the budget territory, with no expectations of going over 1080p in many cases and no ray tracing either. We will have to see its performance, because at this price point, Intel can gain some marketshare from AMD and Nvidia IF it is actually a good card. We shall see.
VWith increased popularity of running local LLMs, imagine if we could upgrade VRAM more effortlessly

The Arc B580 is out. Only read the TechPowerUp's review so far, where they give praise to its relative efficiency and great value compared to what AMD and Nvidia currently offers. Others seem to be saying the same thing: it's a no cut corners, actually decent budget card.
ittedly, it is a little late to the party, but for the moment, this is the answer for a decent priced, budget card if you're looking to build something actually budget and get all new parts. Obviously, older titles won't work as well, but report everything to Intel and I'm optimistic that they will look into it and figure it out.
How is it possible that my AIO HP PC's motherboard got faulty just by not powering on the PC for a few weeks? Also they're saying that the hard disk is also damaged. I literally pain stakingly installed Linux Mint via dual boot into windows. That was tough. But now, all of this has gone to waste.
But yeah, they're saying that they'll upgrade the ram from 4 GN to 8 GB. They'll also upgrade the HDD to SSD. Maybe I'll also opt in to upgrade the monitor and the processor if possible.
How is it possible that my AIO HP PC's motherboard got faulty just by not powering on the PC for a few weeks?
On a motherboard, you have a lot of sensitive components that need require a precise voltage to function, like your processor or graphics accelerator. As such, there are components like VRMs (voltage regulator modules) and capacitors that filter things out. It's possible that one or more of those components went bad. It's also possible that the power supply for that AIO went bad.

you can't see it due to the lighting but it's a pentium g870

I find it a bit weird how even when Apple does something utterly stupid, Apple s don't seem to be that bothered when Apple upsell them storage like a crypto rugpull. No disrespect towards Jeff, I find him cool. It's just that I don't know why Apple s have this type of response.

I now feel ashamed for having an Intel chip on my laptop
anyways, I'll restore your mental retardness
intel is one of the top investors of risc-v
meaning that they're pro free market and a competitive one at that.
risc-v is an open source assembler already found in use by many corporations, its an architecture that just might substitute x64 and ARM in the future.
your favorite to hate chip company is actively investing in a better future for you.
when a GTX 750 ti for $150 can turn any office computer into a gaming powerhouse that can play any game available?
How times have changed.
Still could, if you choose not to play slop

I do agree with the sentiment that there are MANY good games that have close to 0 system requirements but I also agree with tad's point that a 750TI will immidietly allow you to play every single game. The point was not how many good games it can run, it was just how much it can run and handle, in general.
Looks interesting, gotta wait to see actual price and performance though.
It'll likely be out of stock for months in any case.
I wouldn't put my hopes too high into AMD. If they don't have stock issues, their drivers will very likely be sucky for a few months. We'll see, though.

Stores have been stocking 9070s and 9070xts for months now and some people even got them early so stock seems to be good.
And AMD drivers have been consistently good for the past decade. And they even said that their day 1 driver is the most polished it's ever been, probably because the cards were supposed to be on sale earlier but got delayed so the driver team got extra time to iron out issues.
"Hurr durr bad AMD drivers" is a thing 15 - 20 years ago. Not now.

As I said in my original comment, we'll see how things fold out. I'm hopeful that AMD will deliver something nice.
