Oh. I didn't knew that, frankly. ittedly, I think that's why they have their tool to make ISOs on Windows, so yeah.
well, vanilla Firefox's CSS is customizable so I don't see the point of installing a more bloated version of it.Winnyace wrote: 182q6t
I've been trying to use Floorp for the past two days or so. I guess these are my first impressions of it:
Overall, I do like it. It is slightly more bloated than vanilla Firefox, but offers a nice experience either way. I highly recommend it.
- It seems more smooth on my system than vanilla Firefox, which is nice
- They bring back the theme Firefox had before Firefox 89, with smaller tab sizes and a more tightly packed top section
- There are more settings exposed, like the keyboard shortcuts or the profile manager
- They add some new features like a sidebar
- In the settings, they recommend some extensions, like Tree Style Tab or uBlock Origin
- They don't themselves as the most privacy protecting browser. What they offer is similar to vanilla Firefox, which is alright.
Again, it is smoother on my system, and frankly I don't want to mess with CSS. A team of people can do it better than I can, to be honest.Jangsoodlor wrote: 4z5t12

oh to play with something obscure and thoroughly understand its every facet so that you could intuitively recite/refer to any/every function and application, and then master it completely to its optimum potential ;o;Winnyace wrote: 182q6t
NGL, I would love to get systems like these, clean them up a bit and, hopefully, really explore what they were used for and hopefully either donating them or giving them to a recycling center where they can be scrapped or sold to collectors or something.
Might be good to re-install Windows, to be honest. Fresh installs of Windows are always great and speedy.great_elmo wrote: 6o1l6a
Might be a necropost but I got this from my grandparents (my moms to be exact) today.
Yeah it only has an i3-2100 and 4GB RAM but it's still leagues better than what I currently have.
Unfortunately there's her Microsoft (she did tell me the ) but no wifi. Without it I CANNOT use it.
Front audio does not work.
Probably gonna turn it into a low end sleeper.
I don't think running windows on that thing is going to be a nice experience. Especially if it doesn't has SSD.Winnyace wrote: 182q6t

It seems he installed Mint on it. You're right as well, but at the same time, he didn't really specify if the computer has a SSD or not. If it doesn't, that would be the easiest and least expensive upgrade. Next will be RAM.Jangsoodlor wrote: 4z5t12

The GPU is very weak, but considering your situation, I guess it is an improvement. Everything else is fine.great_elmo wrote: 6o1l6a
Will these be good upgrades to put into my current PC?

I will also probably throw in a used 3570
that's not something you hear very often (firefox forks)Winnyace wrote: 182q6t
There's a new Firefox fork named Zen Browser. It is in alpha at the moment, but I'm hoping that it will become better and better overtime. For the moment, I haven't tried, but I plan to.

I have been pwned in a data breach from The Internet Archive. Data was names, emails and s. If you have an there, might good to check if everything is fine.
In related news, some clown group on Twitter are such anti-social Twitter brainrot retards that they decide to DDOS The Internet Archive because the US government owns them and they enable Israel, expect the archive is ran by a non-profit, not the US government. Twitter retards being Twitter retards.

New Intel Us launching on October 24th, 2024. This gen is named Arrow Lake and it will have a new naming scheme.
Intel Core i9-14900K -> Intel Core Ultra 9 285K
Intel Core i7-14700K -> Intel Core Ultra 7 265K
Intel Core i5-14500K -> Intel Core Ultra 5 245K
Intel is doing what AMD did with Zen5: lay out the groundwork for new stuff in the future. The most notable change between the 14th gen and this new line is the fact that Intel says they have reduced the power consumption by half, while having the same performance as the 14900K. That would be really good for Intel. It seems they're working on a new socket too, with better pressure on the U, so the need for a frame is removed.
I'm personally intrigued to see how these new chips perform.
More details below:
I think they're using TSMC's 3nm.abraker wrote: 6cx2d

but also scary how dependent we are on TSMC for cutting edge chips dam
If the U is 64-bit, then the Windows version is wrongly installed. Since the U is 64-bit, perhaps try Linux on it? Maybe make it into some sort of local network file server? Maybe a Jellyfin instance?great_elmo wrote: 6o1l6a
What should I put on this old school laptop (preferably 32 bit stuff because it's on a 32 bit version of Windows (despite having a 64 bit U) and also preferably software that doesn't require )![]()
It used to be common to install 32 bits windows on lower-end 64 bits devices. Since 32 bits windows are allegedly use less resources to run.Winnyace wrote: 182q6t

They aren't. The API request that adblockers like uBlock Origin used were also used for malicious usage, so Google saw it as a security risk. I don't like this change either, but they aren't doing this to kill adblockers specifically. uBlock Origin Lite works just fine on Chrome from my testing for a casual . Google understands that if they actually go after adblockers, head on, they will lose their influence and power, more or less immediately.Corne2Plum3 wrote: 3y1z1p
If you're a Chrome , either do not update or better, run away from it, they finally decided to kill adblockers!!!

At 250$, 12GB or 10GB of VRAM is much better than what AMD or Nvidia are offering at this price point and going over 10GBs will be hard, considering the fact that this price point, we're still in the budget territory, with no expectations of going over 1080p in many cases and no ray tracing either. We will have to see its performance, because at this price point, Intel can gain some marketshare from AMD and Nvidia IF it is actually a good card. We shall see.Karmine wrote: 6c5h1b
12 and 10GB VRAM iirc, not great for 2025.great_elmo wrote: 6o1l6a
So uhh... new Intel GPUs soon.
This is a must-win for Intel as if these suck, they're done.
nice necropost ngl
It's cheap but for that price it's like buying an older AMD/Nvidia GPU but with more risk of compatibility issues.
On a motherboard, you have a lot of sensitive components that need require a precise voltage to function, like your processor or graphics accelerator. As such, there are components like VRMs (voltage regulator modules) and capacitors that filter things out. It's possible that one or more of those components went bad. It's also possible that the power supply for that AIO went bad.Rhythm32 wrote: 5ti6u
How is it possible that my AIO HP PC's motherboard got faulty just by not powering on the PC for a few weeks?
