I agree, at some years the post count is especially useless, for example at the height of "ITT: neither funny nor interesting" threads it mostly consisted of low-effort posting, however the impact of eras is not the same as getting the denizen status, since you don't really need to be recognized by anyone, the minimum requirement is simple to achieve for anyone really, there's no real need to even post useless messages.Endaris wrote: 6j5f7
I dislike this in the sense that postcount doesn't reflect impact.
There have been some individuals that were memorable if only for the fact that their ratio of quality posts was wildly exceeding that of other denizens while still showing a modicum of activity to be considered part of the landscape.
As an example of that I would like to call out schism.
Although few in posts and partially lost to the currents of time as their expressive image usage can no longer be witnessed due to dead links, he's one of the posters of my "era" I will never forget.
Every single time I saw a new thread by them I was immediately excited because there was no doubt it was going to be good before even clicking on it. In that sense, schism is much more memorable to me than many shitposters from "my time" and due to their strong and consistent roleplaying my impression of them is much more clear than that of some other posters of my time.
While I won't bother to argue against acceptance through quantity to cater to those uninspired and lacking in creativity, this should never lead to quality posters not being recognized.
None should ever feel forced to vomit a load of garbage into this subforum to gain some accolade of questionable value and be accepted by those rolling around in the mud and racking up their postcount with head-keyboard-smashes. Get good.
That's just an activity chart though.Kobold84 wrote: 4c5ma
What this system does achieve better is recording and preserving a historical landscape of OT, you get a better grasp of people who were posting in the past, you can see people fading away or suddenly popping and disappearing. The overlap of s is especially good, because once you get the denizenship, that's it, you get tied to a specific generation even if you were active for entire generations.

read my previous post, it's linked on this thread. This is not supposed to reflect impact, this is just an objective messurement of who was active at which time, nothing more, nothing else, also the osu!chronicles is really akward to use for this same reasons.Endaris wrote: 6j5f7

Ultimately, just be aware that that denizen list never followed any criteria but was basically just a subjective "people that were memorable part of the landscape" impression by abraker. None cared at the time and it was just a funny thing in hindsight. faiswusuf didn't have nearly enough posts to qualify according to your new criteria originally but they became a central part of subforum culture in a flash, overshadowing poor plotter.
Exactly this, and since people who would know who was impactful in the past are long gone it's basically impossible, even if you read everything in OT you don't have the context of being there when it happened/being part of itPatatitta wrote: 5t25
Also due to the changes to the denizen system over the years, it's really nto even useful to see impact either, the only way ot really have a pure impact of influence would be to remake it again with that intention all over again
yeah got it right initially, was just fact-checkingabraker wrote: 6cx2d

yes, this was my listKobold84 wrote: 4c5ma
Patatitta, do you have a list of denizens who did not make it? I just had an idea that they could qualify if we take into wastelanded threads. Might not work for everyone, but some really fringe cases could be resolved with this.

That’s a very nice concept. I could do the pfps on every ot if u want to (including the banned s if possible)
The new osu web layout would make more sense due to the old forum website being nonexistent right now
idk, if I added images it would probably just be regular current page screnshots to make it easier, tho the idea of using wayback to screenshot the when they used OT is interestingKobold84 wrote: 4c5ma

But it's going away soon, should archive profiles ASAP. I would say pre-2018 eras should have old-style pages.

Not many names this time. I don't think my methodology is wrong, it's just that… there wasn't a lot of people posting at a constant rate in 2013-2015, everyone was mostly isolated in ITT2. If you ever think current threads are bad, look into 2014-2015 threads and be amazed how good you have it.
SHOULD BE FIXED: there is Vext and Vext_old in both 2011 and 2012, my bad.
okay so it happens that I read the post, and then, after a while, I do the changes, and when I do the changes, I only read the big [notice] block so I keep missing this, will keep in mind to also re-read the rest of the things for the futureKobold84 wrote: 4c5ma
Vext and Vext_old are still fighting for the spot in 2011 and 2012 (only one shall be left standing).Patatitta wrote: 5t25
updated, sorry for delay

Oh right, I did forget to link some other stuff before I stopped browsing old threads and succumbed to laziness. But to be fair, most of the stuff is well-documented past the 2016 mark thanks to abraker. Maybe some lesser known names are missing still. I wonder… is this thread going to survive its first real challenge (that being the end of this year)?

pls add me to 2016-17. LOL i don't the other years i posted but those were...the highlights
yeah I was thinking on doing something like that, will check it later how to exactly do itKobold84 wrote: 4c5ma
In photoshop or any other image editor you can have a few layers with the right colors and everything, and then you paste their avatars along with the name and optionally the flag+title.
I like how that looks.Patatitta wrote: 5t25
Bump, i'm starting to work on making this thread pretty, I have thought of a compact way to include images for all s, however, i'm afraid that the uneven position may trigger some people, as I don't know how to make the exact same crop each time and opening photoshop for EVERY image would take forever
Do anyone know how to make it even each time?, or another way I could do it?
I've also tried using the portraits, however, this is also uneven, so you cant really make rows that would look great, would take too much space going down![]()
Good luckPatatitta wrote: 5t25
found an easier way to do it by searching the name in the search, taking a screenshot of my monitor. Repeat that for all the names, put it all into photoshop, mass select all layers, crop them all, and export them all individually, then mass drop and into catbox![]()
![]()
now time to repeat for everyone
i think what patatitta is trying to say is that you already have a way of confirming, right now, if you'll be added or not (meaning there's no "maybe" in this)lostsilver wrote: q37e

-In order to be added to an era, you must have at least 5 pages of posts/threads in OT (250 posts!), and be present for over 4 months of the year. Mafia/forum games does not count
