More than one team from a country is ok, and if there are not many appropriate players in the country, you can get other players from 'major countries' like Korea or China or something like that. 3 Players in one team... hm, that's good if... v
...there is just one team avaible for a country and not more... makes no sence if at the end - for example - japan vs japan play.

Well I tought also a little bit more about it - honestly I've got just right now this idea lol - and I think it makes no sence to make a World Cup in this way.
At the end there will be - for example - the most players in the countries, Japan, Korea, China and and the other will have a problem.
A mixxed team is a nice idea, but I think that's also not the best solution at the moment.

One more suggestion(if there are too less players):
I'm more the team player, but honesty, atm it can be just a 1 vs.1 world cup with the K.O.- or ranking/point/tree system (called it how you want).
I would prefare the ranking system, because everyone would have a higher chance to come into the next round as in the K.O. System.
Problem would be the mass of plays... maybe it is a 2 vs.2 possible, if there are to many plays.

Basically it's world cup and a team is based in a nation, but due to lack of Taiko players worldwide, I'll set lots of 'flexibility' about making a team. I'll control those things anyway.

i thought the last days about what maps can be played, and as far as i know, most taiko oni maps are very hard (at least for taiko newbies/intermediates), so we could begin with a easy/normal standard map as a 'warm up', and then maybe after 2 or 3 rounds, we could start with some easier taiko oni maps, with their difficulty getting higher from round to round

That's the biggest problem, I'll set the matches mostly on Friday night~Sunday. Will that work? (Time difference would be problem, I guess.)

I can't say for the other countries but, standard cup times were fine for brazil
And yes, weekend is the best choice imo

Take osu! world cup / other tournaments as reference:
usually it's 10PM~2PM (GMT+8)

and, we have judges around the globe, so time of match can be flexible, depending on the two sides of the match.
say if it's UK VS US, then it can be somehow like night time in European timezone,
and if it's TW VS KR we can have it somehow like 10PM (GMT+8) :3

Oh, and about map suggestions, the 1st round needs both some relatively easy maps('Hard' or 'Taiko Muzukashii' or something like that) and somewhat hard ones (Taiko Oni lvl.7~8, I guess?) becuase skill of players are quite varied at that time.

I mentioned about time difference because it would be quite tricky to set a time when a match like KR vs BR happens.

I actually considered the method that used in Korea vs Japan Taiko match(It wasn't tournament, actually.). Yeah that works too, but that method needs more istration, so I don't think that method is good for this kind of big tournament. Also, the best player in the team is likely to be more weighted than others, and I don't want that.

Yeah, this is world cup but there's some nice Taiko players with not many Taiko players in his/her country, like noobita or zekira, so that's why I set the rules. There's too many good players in certain countries and that's the problem too.

nice suggestion, but imo we will select maps with a large range in both genre and difficulty, not only super oni but also some Muzu level for the first week or whatever.
