i was thinking of recording with the built-in mic from my laptop(i only have one jack so nowhere to plug my mic x_x)

Just a reminder to everyone, your entry recordings must not contain any effects, no echo, no reverb, no dual voice layering.
Otherwise your entry will be disqualified.

1 week deadline. That only counts the time for gathering entries for the stage.

is it okay if I record all the songs for all the stages ?

I don't think that i will all stages at all but I don't have time to record a lot in the next months but I really want to participate. so i want to record 2 free songs, 1 pop and 1 rock this week so I can at least kinda participate... if i make it far of course. Just for the case and stuff... Would that be okay or do we have to record the stuff in the destinated weeks?

That is perfectly fine, just forum PM me all your enties, make sure you label which track is for which stage.

So when I read the rules saying it could be mixed down I thought it was alright to add reverb to it to make it even out with the song.
I just went through the comments though and saw that reverb wasn't allowed and only found out after I submitted my entry,
would it be okay for me to resubmit my entry without the reverb?

As long as you properly with the link that is on the main post you should be fine.

Acapellas are fine as long as you still follow the general rules.

You should have listened to the example, it meant putting an instrumental if available.

In the rules, it says no dual vocal layers - Would that mean that a complete vocal arrangement would be out of the question?

e.g: Beatboxing for drums, "ooh ahhs" for guitars etc.

If we pick a song for a stage, Can you shorten the song and if you're allowed to, is there a minimum length required for the judges to judge?

(let's say Song A is 5:32 seconds long) a freakishly long song yeap, Do we sing the whole entire song? if we can minimize the song, How long should it be atleast?

(Sorry for asking a lot of these stupid questions, forgive me :P)

For the stages, please sing the entire song you are choosing.
For registrations it doesnt matter, just make sure your entry is long enough like say around 1:30 like a tv size heh.

I want to osu!idol but I don't have a microphone or programs for the audio. What should I do? Also is their like a rule for songs like no profanity or something like that? Just want to make sure. Oh and can the duet be someone that's not on Osu?

Use your smart phone or tablet to record thats okie... u can audacity for mixing your instrumental and your record voice...

I think for the duet u need someone who is also has a here in osu...

You need to have a microphone to be able to record.
Buy a headphone mic if you can't afford a decent one.
For the programs, you can just use Audacity,
it's free and simple to use.

Don't know about profanity, but I'm guessing you can't cover a really extreme song or something like that.

Hmm, for the duet part, why not?
Although if they don't have an osu! ,
they won't be able to receive the prizes,
but I don't know why you wouldn't be able to sing with someone outside of osu! (Unless this is limited to osu! only) ?

It's not that I couldn't find an instrumental. It's more just that I made this the other day: https://soundcloud.com/asher-mcmahon/pyt-acapella and I figured it may be good enough to use.

I'll get rid of the reverb and delay effects.

Only voice preffered in your case. You CAN use the beatbox sounds but they must not interfere with your vocals.
