Thanks for the recommendations  and deadbeat thanks for the Until Death Do Us Part manga I began to read it some time ago but forget about it because I didn't write the name down in a notebook in which I have the mangas or series that I'm watching/reading but somehow I forgot about it I guess because it was late and I was dead tired and that frustrated me but when I saw the name it came instantly to my mind and of course I will read Akame ga KILL! :)

Okay, so I love shojo.
Can you guys recommend me some manga that are similar to Horimiya and Hibi Chouchou?
Thanks a lot.

need manga recommendation for shonen ai :(
Feng Shen Ji. Best battle manga.
GANTZ is also good, really explicit.

I'll recommend the only manga i've ever finished, Berserk! 8-)
Can anyone recommend me any good seinen sci fi or horror manga (for my summer break)
When I mean horror I don't mean fruity horror moe . I can't think of any at the moment but this list will sort of help with the taste of art style I enjoy:

Parasyte
Gantz
Litchi Hikari Club
Claymore
Berserk
Emerging

Or anything that resembles Shintaro Kago's art style

Except it hasn't finished yet.

Btooom! is a pretty good sci-fi manga, a bit similar to the Hunger Games (sorry for non-manga analogy), although its updates take forever. If you like Parasyte and Gantz, a similar manga to that is Zetman. The style and amount of gore and nudity is about the same :)
One of my favorite short manga is called Life is Money. Not necessarily sci-fi, but very psychological. Another short manga I know is called Goth. It's not sci-fi either, and is rather short, but it's something to :)

Averine_old
ReRe Hello is a pretty good shoujo imo, then there's Shikabane Cherry or Watashi ga Motete Dousunda too bad most of em are rarely updated. but still a pretty good read :)

What are the opinions on Blade of the Immortal? I heard it's good, hesitant to get blown by over hype or something.

(SAO pun intended)
I am looking for a good read , somthing that makes you just don't wanna stop reading somthing that makes you think about life and stuff the genre doesent realy matter i just dont want mecha/sport

Noblesse (it's a manhwa, though)
Orange Marmalade (also a manhwa, and like Noblesse, about vampires; both are completely different however)
Parasyte (a little on the graphic side but definitely makes you think about life, it's also complete)
One Piece (I'm serious, you get everything from it: comedy, tragedy, action, suspense)
A Certain Scientific Railgun (I say Railgun, not Index, because I feel it has a better MC, and this one will get you thinking about life)
Yotsubato (this is one of best slice of life out there)
Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (school life of outcasts + teacher with tentacles, quite interesting and unique)
Rosario + Vampire (both seasons, except the second is less lighthearted and does a good job confronting complications between inner and outer Moka)

Most of these series are already well known so I hope there's at least one you haven't read yet.
Thank you :D

Have you ever read Dragon Head?!? If not that's one of my most favorite psychological horror mangas it makes you think about life and fear. And it's one of those mangas that you don't want to stop reading! (Especially the first arc!!!!!)
Are there some sliceoflife-drama mangas out there? If there's a physical edition that would be way better. Thank you

There are actually a lot of "slice of life" + "drama" manga out there.. However, most of them are shojo. "School life" can also be considered a sub-genre of "slice of life."
As for physical editions (I'm assuming that means published-in-English volumes), I know you can find series such as Skip Beat, Fruits Basket, The Wallflower, and Oreimo in bookstores and libraries.

Among those series I know, I can only recommend Fruits Basket because it is a must read regardless of whatever gender you are or whatever genres you are into..

If you have trouble finding manga of those genres, I can suggest that you find an online website that provides free scanlations of manga and use the tags "slice of life" and "drama to filter your search down and choose a series you may be interested in. Chances are, they'll be a physical edition of it.
Read shokugeki no souma. it'll make you hungry....

My Heart is Beating (Manhwa) / Annarasumanara (Manhwa)/ 3 Level Combination (Manhwa) / A Lollypop or a Bullet.

Thouth I can't assure you that you will rush through them and get "impacted" the same way I did with those 4. :3
I'm looking for something like Zero (Manhwa) or Ruler of the Land, something like badass protagonist has a badass family (lol) and badass power(s) and some romance too. It can be a Manga or Manhwa, but if possible pls let it has at least 50 chapters (i don't like it too short), the longer the better. And pls no Naruto or Bleach or DBZ or something that is way too popular, so much that i know the story already.
Looking For...

Sentient Mecha (at least sentient 50% of all times) + Any genre (especially fantasy & romance (not between mechas :/ (0.000000000000000000001% only will have), but plz no extreme violence and pervert-related)

Anyone here who knows? And plz no "Doraemon", not that KAWAII sentient cat robot, lel.

I copied from "Anime Suggestion Thread", because it is a bit similar, lel.

DoraBase? It's not "really" Doraemon, but more like a spin-off of it about Baseball.

I realize that this is already two weeks old, but I think you should give 'Pluto' by Naoki Urasawa a try. It's sort of a remake of an older Astro Boy story with the main character position shifted to another robot than Atom, but absolutely worth the read.
Soul Eater.
Looking for some decent historical fiction. I'm not one for harems or ecchi, though, so those are my only qualifiers. Any suggestions?

Any particular time you're looking for? The ones I can spontaneously think of are Historie (Ancient Greece, ongoing), Vagabond (Sengoku Era, ongoing) and Vinland Saga (Vikings, ongoing).
Billy Bat has some historical elements as well, though gets more in the Sci-Fi direction as it progresses.

I've been meaning to read Vinland Saga, and the others sound interesting, so I'll give those a shot!

As far as preferred region/period, European history prior to the 20th century is preferred but I'm open to more. I've been reading Wolfsmund and Emma lately but that's about it, so thank you for the suggestions!
got any manga recommendation? preferably good arts, psychological themed ( Prison School, Liar Game ) ?

well anything would suffix as long as it's got a good arts at least :D

Nanatsu No Taizai is one of my favorite manga
Why is the Anime thread so much more active? Manga needs some love.
Welcome to the NHK's manga adaptation is probably my most favorite of the various incarnations. Really hits home, although nowhere near as close as Oyasumi Punpun.
If you want some shonen historical, then Kingdom's always a good place to start. Things like Nobanagun are also out there, but I hope you like mechs.

pls post more in thread
In that case, I am looking for manga similar to Nichijou. I am holding off on reading it for couple months after watching the anime (because I like to forget and be surprised again), but would like some slapstick comedy reads in the meanwhile. I've read/am reading School Rumble, Azumanga Daioh, and Aho Girl, so series like that, too, are welcome.

I think the general population consists of more anime watchers than manga readers, which could explain the lack of activity..
(but yes I am aware that many do both)

Not asking for a suggestion. I read this manga long time ago but forget the title.

Here's the synopsis:
There was an elementary school student who is a pianist. One day he/she found a piano in the forest and tried to play it. No sound came out of it. Then he met a child his/her age and that child could play the piano brilliantly. But when he/she let that child play with a normal piano, he played very poorly.

Anyone knows what I'm talking about? Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso reminded me of this one.

Honestly though, I'm having a very rough time trying to find anything new or interesting that I might have ed on quite a while ago so I might as well be the first to do a recommendation request.

What genre I'm after:
Action-ish minus the adventure boringness unless it's actually compelling.

What I'm looking for:
Something along the lines of Shingeki no Kyojin.

What I've read before:
Just going to skim through a few titles I've read/currently reading -
  1. Ares
  2. Berserk
  3. Claymore
  4. Id
  5. Shin Angyo Onshi
  6. Superior
  7. Übel Blatt
  8. Vagabond
(Shingeki no Kyojin: Birth of Levi)
i watched the series of melancholy of haruhi suzumiya, thought it was gr8, read the manga knockoff, the melancholy of suzumiya haruhi-chan

couldnt return back to the normal series

the manga series was entertaining, gave lots of laughs and above all, i love how the haruhi in haruhi-chan is more haruhi than the real haruhi.

would have preffered haruhi-chans character development in the real series

I just notice that I'm out of manga to read and I got a hard time finding some manga suited to my taste (not literally).
So here I am needing for suggestions.

Example: The World God Only Knows, Heavens Lost Property

Note: the manga series should be completed

Thanks guys and have a great day.

jomil_charge: Just curious, why do you care about completion? If you are in it for the comedy, just read as is. It is not like jokes change after completion (ittedly jokes like those in Hayate are time sensitive, so reading them as they come is fairly helpful)

That sounds like Piano no Mori you just described.

Personally, I've not read it yet. I have only watched half of the movie adaptation.
I read Nisekoi, Yumekui Merry and Gokukoku no Brynhildr at the moment.
I read these mangas in english, and I'm french, so I take the time. xD
If you have some manga like the three I mentioned, I'll read it. :)
I highly recomment Nanatsu no Taizai.

It is an action, fantasy, adventure type Manga & Anime!
It's really similar to One piece in of "looking for nakama"
I really enjoy Animes/mangas that involve finding bad ass friends as the story progresses. (im looking for some suggestions)
I'd go over the more mainstream animes like parasyte and tokyo ghoul but everyone knows that.

Ohhh and Psyren (Action, Fantasy) is a good manga, good enough for me to buy volume 1-13 of the books at Anime North 2014 :P
Shingeki no Kyoujin
Can someone reccomend me a good josei manga? Would be nice if it incoporates the psychological genre too.
"Thou Shalt Not Die". You can read it online on Rekka-Alexiel's drakengard-3 blog.
Also consider the other mangas she has translated like "Shi Ni Itaru Aka" and "Utaihime Five".
1. DICE: the cube that changes everything
2.Shokugeki no Soma
3.KONJIKI NO MOJI TSUKAI - YUUSHA YONIN NI MAKIKOMARETA UNIQUE CHEAT
4.ANSATSU KYOUSHITSU
Ana Satsujin is a pretty interesting manga.
DJ Yuu
if manga, i like manga genre romance, comedy, slice a life..
like horimiya, kimi no iru machi, fuuka, half & half, tatte yuusha(oh it's genre fantasy :D )

Just to help me a little more, what type of humor are you looking for, and are you looking for no ecchi, or the near absence of female characters?
I technically could recomment anything from Tonari no Seki-kun to something more moe like Yuru Yuri, to slapstick like Gintama, or something really dark like Overlord.... (there is also the satirical Mudazumo Naki Kaikaku), so please give me something to narrow things down.
IMO Ecchi has always been one of the strong points manga has over anime.
-Censorship is considerably less confrontational. Also generally no need to contort around being broadcast friendly.
and
-Plots feel less forced in manga since it is ~5 mins or so every month/week/whatever rather than 20 mins a weeks. A storyless manga is much more bearable than a storyless anime. Look at DxD this season, you can tell where manga chapters start and finish.
just gonna drop this here: Koe no Katachi

Hey :D

I'm kinda new here, but i had to answer this :P

I can really recommend you many Mangas, but these are my favorites (excluding your examples) :

  • -Gakuen Alice
    -Ao Haru ride
    -Akuma to love song
    -Hirunaka no Ryuusei <3
    -Tonari no Atashi
    -Taiyou ne le
-Ookami Shoujo to kuro ouji <3
    -Kamisama Hajimemashita
    -Kyou no Kira Kun
    -L-DK <3
    -Kyou Koi Wa Hajimemasu
    -Heroine
    -Ojousama wa Oyomesama
    -Sugar Soldier
-Boku no Hatsukoi o Kimi ni Sasagu

And also there is soredemo sekai wa utsukushii, but atm I only watched the Anime and i loved it, and I think the Manga is just as good as the Anime!!

I enjoyed all of them, and in my opinion most of them got a great art :3 (because mostly i can't stand childish art types, it was difficult at the beginning with Gakuen Alice but the story gets so good and i oversaw that.)

I hope I could help you a bit :)
yes, thank you. I will check them out ^^. & I didn't know chihayafuru will have a live action movie. :o. that's going to be exciting to wait for ><
I Recommend Assassination Classroom

I like the story
im not reading manga :v but i draw the manga

I'm skeptic about that... The thing that makes fictional mediums like manga or anime that much better in this type of show is how they handle the rather simple movements of for example swinging your arm in various epic strokes and poses without looking bad. Take Death Note as a good example. The unforgetable scenes of Light writing franatically in his book look so much better when the director had unlimited ways of portraying it compared to the live action. It takes away a lot from shows like chihayafuru (one of my favorites btw) where the only intense moments except for certain "romance" scenes are the gameplay themselves

It works for action shows but I have my doubts about any type of live action. Only good ones I've seen are like t harlock or kenshin, whom had probably a way bigger budget. Or tbh, space brothers movie was pretty good, with a relatively low budget it seemed, but it was a completely different show and cool actors.
I never said Live-action Chihayafuru will be better or anything. It's certainly more doable than other series'. Live action Deathnote was pretty solid the series isn't about how Light writes names in a book. The issue of movement only comes into play when rotoscoping.
Nor did I claim you did. i was not attacking you in any way I just expressed my doubts of the live action execution. i didn't say DN was about that either... please pay attention. I took it as an example of how simple movements are in anime & manga versus live action, and the impact loss when adapting fiction to nonfiction in that regard. Things like that will matter more in shows like chihayafuru, where they are the main fast paced parts of it. This is the reason I'm skeptical about adapting something like chihayafuru.
My point was I think your concerns are largely a non-issue. I see fast paced moments being more important in a fantasy/action series rather than one somewhat emulating reality anyway.
If you consider a potential quality drop a non issue that's fine with me, but again I - with chihayafuru as a favorite show - would only be turned off on seemingly minor but important atmospherical details as such. Live action often lose a lot of luster when adapting series, but that's a different discussion.
Well that just comes with the change in medium. Whether the live-action is incredible or not that doesn't change the anime (so what does quality drop have to do with anything?)
I'd rather see companies making a risk adapting something of actual entertainment value rather than stick with the generic safe option for the 99th time.
Like I said, other discussion. However, if they would go all out I'm fine with it, but looking at the history of adaptations they seldom do. Adaptations often cut corners in obvious places and just makes one cringe. I surely hope it won't be a low budget film if anything...
I don't think I need to tell you that Chihaafuru is a adaption.I'd rather actually see the film before I make any claims about it cutting corners but the series is award winning and popular, doesn't need much of a FX budget and has a small cast are all factors that work in this films favour.
Kimi wa Midara na Boku no Joou is pretty nice.
I read it for the 'story' ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I'm not searching for a suggestion but I'm here to suggest a title "UQ Holder"

Give it a try!
If you're into harem ecchi shit and you're a perverted old neckbeard I suggest you read 'Minamoto-kun Monogatari'.

It's about a pretty-faced dude who lives with his hot aunt. He is trying to conquer his fear of girls because he was bullied a lot in junior-high cos the girls were jealous of his looks.

His aunt is obsessed with 'the tale of genji', the story of a pretty-faced prince who banged 14 different women. The dude reminds his aunt of genji because of his feminine beauty. To help the MC conquer his fear of girls, the aunt is trying to reenact the tale of genji by getting him laid with 14 different women.

-Not for kids.
-Ongoing.
-Go fuck yourself you creeps.
