Does anyone have the menu-button-background.png for the new default skin? It's not in the template t/129191/ Not sure where to ask, I posted that it wasn't in there but I don't think anyone is going to respond in that thread.

I would post it, but I'm at work right now. Will do that after returning to home. (but probably someone will be faster than me. ;).

You know what? Today I will test, select and edit/correct parts for new default template. Official template was posted in April contains only gameplay part (with few issues...). Now we have middle of August, yet still no updates.
Also, will correct old default template since some parts were removed from use.

So there will be 2 templates. Old one and New one. :3

Added new style template, a little updated with new parts, little mixed with old one to fill all missing parts.
Updated old style template by removing all parts removed from actual use, added missing parts to fit it to new skin.

Editing the hit particles works, but you HAVE to change the paired hit×.png aswell or it doesn't use the edited particle×.png.

Also I looked over the new template and I don't think you missed anything other than selection-mod-random.png but even I don't have that file.

Learn to work with what you have or get something better. Your only other option is to look for someone who is currently doing commissions, of which no one is doing so in this thread.

I'm currently trying to make some fancier hitscores for mania mode, but am having some troubles due some of the default settings.

(failing on purpose to show all the different images, or at least trying to)

As you can see, the hacks I use to get around the current limitations (as I know them) have some weird side-effects. Also it only works in a single mode at a time; you have to replace the hitscore images if you change modes.

So basically my questions are:
  1. In the mania-specific ini files (4k.ini, 7k.ini, etc), is there a way to specify a horizontal offset for the "ScorePosition"? Everything i've tried has failed to parse, so I assume it's not implemented.
  2. Is there a way to disable hitscore animations in a skin.ini type of file? Just some way to stop it from being transformed/rotated after creation like it's doing in the video.
And if neither of those features are implemented, would the proper procedure be to make a new thread for it in the "Feature Requests" subforum?

1. Unfortunately not, you can only specify global vertical placement
2. Again unfortunately not.

Mania skinning is incredibly severely limited.

Feature request would be where you'd ask, although I believe there's a general thread for all the things that need to be in mania skinning in there already, though I forget what it's named.

This isn't really a skinning inquiry, the beatmap in question uses storyboard effects and lots of kiai on/offs to pull off its look, and If videos don't show for you globally you might want to check your options to see if you disabled them.

My advice would be to open that map up in the editor and study how the storyboard is used then experiment in your own map.

Hey guys, i really appreciate the guys working on this thread and i hope someone could help me here.

So the problem is the long notes on osu! mania, and i'm having a hard time fixing it. The long notes starts on the left side of the column and kind of flickers while being pressed. Its probably something about the animation, since the long notes have 5 files. So i hope someone could help me out here about animations or something to fix this minor skinning problem.
Pink notes seems to be working fine. This occurs on the yellow notes sometimes but always occurs on the silver ones.

Im using the New Default Template skin, so maybe theres something wrong with my pc? i have no idea.

If you mean that middle part of silver slider is on the left side, it's a template problem. Working on fix. ^^;

That's super weird, I've never seen anything like that happen before. Are there any mania .pngs in your skin folder? If so could you list which ones and their resolutions?

Oh, the new template fixed it.. so yeah.. i guess that was pretty trivial.

nope, it's from the osu itself...
there should be FAQ tab :( so some people may have find it
about the countdown:
- 3 goes to the upper-left corner but not the left side,
- 2 goes to the upper-right corner but not the right side,
- 1 goes right to the center.

Use the new default skin (with small countdown numbers) and a map with countdown to test.
What would you suggest to make png sequences? Flash sucks, and Photoshop can't animate scaling.

zzz again, all the "test build only" skinnables are oversights, so it doesn't matter if you can do it there anyway.

If you're using the ranking template from the old skin, you have to disable New animations
If you're using the new template, turn on it on.

There's a checkbox in the skins tab in options

Hi, recently I found a hitsound I particularly enjoy, and I wanted to hear it on every click, so I introduced it in my skin folder (not skins) as normal-hitclap.wav, normal-hitnormal.wav, soft-hitclap.wav, soft-hitnormal.wav, but sometimes I can hear it sometimes I can't, probably I don't know what name the sound should have, can anyone help me?

That Cursor is too big... I think You should resize It to 60px or lower

Hmm..
Double the resolution of the element you're making.
Let's say 500x500 so you'll be resizing it to 1000x1000 and name the element with "@2x" at the filename.
Example of that is "[email protected]"

HD skinning is used when you are using resolution that have 800px in height.

Elements should have @2x at the end of file name. ("[email protected]") And exacly double size of standard skin element.

Example : "hitcircle.png" = 128x128px "[email protected]" = 256x256px.

aside from these, why not start it big

like begin with a 152x152 image for the cursor, skin it the way you like and save it as "[email protected]"
and resize it down to 76x76 and save it as "cursor.png"

Logically, this the way it should ALWAYS be done. Never upscale an image, it literally won't change anything and if you scaled it poorly then you might even make it look worse.

Hi, I'm editing image and sound files in a beatmap, so it's generally making a skin just for the beatmap but not the entire client. I want my custom cursor to stop spinning because it's ruining the effect. I didn't want to make a custom skin in the skin folder, but I learned if you make your own, you can turn off the rotating cursor, but when I do that other things change against my will.

My custom countdown, instead of appearing in the same spot, start to appear all over the screen, and I start getting these little pink "30"'s and "10"'s that appear at the beginning, end, and ticks of my sliders.

I don't want these.

I figured it's because I copied the skin.ini from the new skin template which might have different things from the default (but it doesn't really look any different) and then edited the cursor rotate option. Is there something I can do to fix all this? It's frustrating because I don't see options to change how the countdown is displayed, or to turn off those little "10"'s and "30"'s on the sliders. Or nothing in the skin folder that shows the images for those numbers for me to edit them out completely..

My cursor is like a crosshair from a shooter game. All I want is for my cursor to stop rotating, and for absolutely nothing else to change.

The Best way is, try to edit another ranking- with Your Style...

So, with this you are able to create many different countdowns. But you need to about how they are layered. Count 3 is always on top, count 2 is behind and count 1 is covered by them. So it's kinda impossible to make stacked countdown (you know numbers that appears on previous one).

I changed the images for the countdown, but a stacked countdown was the default on my osu client when "osu by peppy" skin is selected. All my countdowns are like that unless I change the skin..I am not going to distribute the skin I'm making, it's just for personal use and for a few friends on a beatmap created by someone else so it's not like there's a link for it on the internet. But thanks a lot for helping.

Thanks, checking the "new skin behaviour" option made it stack correctly once again. I'll just have to put my skin as the beatmap's preferred skin and send it to my friends and ask them to check that box too. I know they don't use any skin other than the default so it won't be a problem. Thanks a lot, you both helped me a lot.

I still have a lot to work on for my skin, so if I run into any more problems in the future I'll be coming back for help. Thanks!

People's tastes are too subjective to really make a "perfect, most-readable" skin. Just for example; I wouldn't use a single part of that skin. :P

You should really aim to make a more distinct skin rather than just a generic 'pro' skin, since they all end up looking like the same 2-3 skins.
I'm converting to new behavior skin, but this happens when I finish playing a song ONLY:

The new skin behavior uses pause-retry.png on the ranking . If your skin is using really wide blank spots on the pause menu buttons to offset their positions visually it's going to break your ranking buttons. This is the only thing I can think of that would cause that issue.

You can now add skin versioning by adding "Version: 2" into the skin.ini file, so no more suggesting the "Prefer new default" instructions.
menu-osu.png still works for the background of the text that comes up in spectator e.g. Buffering or Host failed

The closest way to do that is to make a static combo burst image full of stars... I don't think there's a way to make it so stars move individually. :|
hey guys, im a noob looking for some help on making an cursor that looks like the default league of legends cursor(with top left cursor centre) and im not quite sure how it's done. Normally i just put a PNG file of the cursor in a file and put it in the skin folder and osu will play it, but for some reason i cant even get the image to show up(it reverts to default cursor). Also im not sure how to make the cursor centre at the top left without the cursor reverting to default cursor with top left enabled.

EDIT/UPDATE: i figured how to get the image and top left centre to work, my only issue now is how to get rid of the white box surrounding it :(
UPDATE 2: All good, figured it out, anyone looking for an exact replica of how a league cursor would play in game can just ask and i shall :)
