The emoji effect is a little known effect present in many people. This effect is mostly present in 8-14 year olds who are still learning how the internet works. They exhibit this effect due to their insecuraty about displaying emotion via text. For example, if they are happy, then they will not write "lol" because that displays lack of emotion and the notion that they are just slightly amused but bored altogether. Instead they will write "LOLOLOLOLOLOL " to display that they indeed do find it funny. This effect disappears in time when they understand how to convey emotion appropriately through wording.
