Std spread requirements are divided into 3:30(Hard)/4:15(Insane)/5:00(Singlediff) 3 sections. This rule has been carried out for 7 years. However, there is an interesting fact that songs with a death length of 3:00~3:30 are very rare when the rule was initially proposed, but up to now they have become increasingly popular.

Maybe spread rule should be adjusted to 3:00(Hard)/4:00(Insane)/5:00(Singlediff) to follow this trend.

Yes please, please let me map 4:00 songs with just an Insane.

Nobody wants to map 4:13 Hard difficulty.

I'm 100% agreeing with this. I don't know why this wasn't proposed earlier

i dont get why this keeps popping up
low diffs are literally the easiest and fastest diffs to map, youre really not gaining much from not having to map them

really the biggest issue are filler extras in case of high sr spread, not a normal/hard that you can shit out in 3h or less and that doesnt even have to be good cuz no one cares

Hard diffs target less competitive players and new players. Both are drawn to osu because of songs they like. The kind of songs that draws people in are usually full length pop songs, so not requiring mappers to map a hard diff for their 4 minute song or a normal for their 3 minute song means that you alienate a whole group of music enjoyers who are forced to play 200bpm nightcore mixes, tv size eroge music or die hard rhythm game music.

There is also the competitiveness aspect, there are hundreds of mappers who spend the effort begging BNs to look at their map and be prepared for their maps to be ignored. If you really want your map to be ranked I don't think it's such a far fetch to spend the afternoon churning out a hard diff to make your set more suitable for different skill levels.
