How should I utilize the dash? 4m2h6v

Everytime I dash, it feels like I'm taking a gamble, just pressing blindly hoping it will align and reach right.

At first I used it thinking it represents the "rhythm", as in emphasizing a loud kick etc, in which I have seen in ctb maps but you might as well throw everything out the window on (some) converts.

Now that I'm playing a handful of converts, I'm using it as a "convenient tool" in which you use it when necessary. Ie: There's a pattern I ed without dash at 1st attempt but run 2nd attempt I had to use the dash there because I didn't maneuver enough?

Idk how to explain it clearly. To summarize: I don't know how to use the dash

The thing you want to focus on is the spacing between the fruits and deciding whether or not you need to dash. It’s not really based on the rhythm, though the note after a dash, especially after a hyperdash, is more likely to be a prominent sound (on specifics at least). I’d recommend that you get good at specifics first. Converts are harder to read because the spacing will be more random, so it’s harder to know when to dash (and you might get edge dashes). Salad difficulties can help you to learn when to dash since they won’t have any hyper fruits and the spacing should be relatively obvious, then move onto platters, etc… go one step at a time.

Dashing is used for gap that are too big to take by just walking, in most cases it should be fairly obvious that a gap is too wide for walking particularly for ctb-specific maps but may be less so for converts as they tend to have very inconsistent spacings which may make judging distances a bit harder. It may be good to have a good balance of both specifics and converts to both test and keep your skill progression in check.

relying mostly on converts as a means of improving isn't a very good practice in my opinion especially so early in the game (Please note this isn't to say you should not play converts just don't play only converts if you intend on learning basic game mechanics in an intuitive manner as they do not take other modes into ). Regarding the "rhythm" aspect it's a lot less noticeably at lower levels of play but yes it does play a role in movement contrary to the general consensus but it doesn't start becoming more noticeably until around 4-ish to 5* maps

Ultimately it mainly comes through practice. It likely will slowly become instinct overtime where you usually aren't consciously thinking about when you should and shouldn't dash as you use it more.

convert(std map) is not custom for ctb so their pattern is feel like random/no sense of rhythm(for press dash key)

in convert, u have to improve your read skill, it usually have to play more to used it
read pattern, to know what u have to do then control your catcher to catch it
example u read the space is far, then hold dash(then stop it earlier) / tap dash key(control movement speed)

it sound like both of way can do it so it just depend of your control
there are no different on both, catched it is the justice

beatmapsets/45436#fruits/142217

try to challenge maybe

Yeah gonna take your advice and start focusing on ctb specifics for now. Was progressing really slow on converts...

Yeah I've played some maps to the point of memorizing where the dashes should be used. I've been playing this like it's a "trial & error" game.

try to identify pattern by reading and react it
if ar9 is too high, find some ar7/8 map
