I want to get better at the game, but for some reason it's like I'm always behind somehow. I think I've only been able to FC one song so far.
Also, how do I know when and when not to dash. It's feels like I need to memorize the map.

Play more obviousy

It's good to start off with like 2* maps where dashes aren't really needed so you get used to the sliding movement and just get the hang of it, but when you get to 3* maps you can't really do much without dashing.
I would say, whenever you see a bigger jump than usual, tap the dash to the rhythm and it's all just practice from there.

I would argue you seem to be making decent progress based on your recent activity. At this level it's best to just get the basics down one by one

base speed movement (this is mostly taught in cup difficulties or a lot of 1* maps, you can keep practicing these until you can play most if not all of them well, ideally fcing or getting low miss counts. not much is really required at this level, no dashes are expected at this point so no need to stress about these)

dashing (taught more on salad difficulties or 2* maps, I can't really say there's a true way of knowing how to time your dashes it's one of those things that comes to you instinctively as you practice them more however it should usually be fairly obvious as indicated by noticeably larger gaps, the rhythm of the particular song could also be used as a aid.)

hyperdashes (don't worry about this for now, it's doesn't become important until later but is at least worth understanding how it works, fruits appearing with a red outline gives a speed boost when holding dash for even tighter gaps)

Just keep practicing with the intention of becoming marginally better after each session and you should see improvement eventually. Chances are you are not going to see immediately results but don't let that discourage you.

What would you consider a low miss count? Under 10 or 15?

I would personally say 5 or less but if that's too much 10 would be a fine baseline

I have written articles about how to play ctb
however the language is Chinese
if u don't mind,u can use a translator to read them
the first part is 0 to 2kpp
and the second part is 4digits to 3digits
Nikolai
not everyone is born with it

I think accuracy percentage is a better reference metric since 10x on a 30 second map is awful while pretty good on a 5 minute map. Try to shoot for 98%+ on maps.

Yeah didn't take accuracy scaling into and would generally be a better metric overall to do by, I'll still preface it's still worth trying to go for as few misses as you can. While in isolation 10x miss on a 30-60 second map does sound pretty bad if the map's note density and overall difficulty isn't factored in which could drastically change the perspective but I get the idea.

Yeah I it my own example was oversimplified as I didn’t for density as for instance a cup and overdose of the same song has double the object count for same drain time.
Uhorky
Just play what is comfortable for you. I was stuck at 3* for a year until one day i just randomly played 4* and wasnt shite at it. Compare yourself only to your past achievements. Its more relaxing that way imo.
