psychological horror would probably have been a better genre, for a few reasons related to my neuroses and the kinds of behaviors attached to them. not necessarily because i would make any kind of good protagonist or antagonist (maybe a deuteragonist that is used as an example of something?), it's just that it would presumably make more thematic sense in relation to those who Would be protagonists/deuteragonists/antagonistsShinRun wrote: 4p6j2
It was what type of movie you guys would star in
I feel like you’re associating slice of life with a positive life lesson. I think of slice of life as merely an insight into someone’s life, not that there is always a lesson to learn from.Achromalia wrote: 5ev6p

slice of life may be where i would star, if only i had a better-nourished sense of wellbeing (i already have the seeds for a love of life, but i have no fertilizer or good soil with which to make them sprout/bloom), but there isn't much of a life here to take any kind of slice from
not to say that i don't appreciate learning what your impressions are, i find them really intriguing/endearing and i would love to hear your thought process, in lieu of a first-hand experience i couldn't have had for myself
not necessarily what i mean either, although it's an understandable interpretation to make from my input ^-^;; i don't want to dispel any of those possibilities and i think your impressions are fair, plus i could easily just not be accurately reading what you mean to describe in your clarificationShinRun wrote: 4p6j2

That said, I think that you would work better in a slice of life film where you dive into the topic behind the meaning and purpose of life. Maybe a self narrative short film where you talk about your philosophical view on life.
I didn’t make this tier list based on what films would draw in the most dollars but rather which type of movies would suit you. I feel like any other category would feel forced on you. Obviously horror could work, but I don’t think the internal/mental conflicts you have with yourself are horrific enough to be considered as a horror film. You are a very anticlimax person, and I feel that horror film needs to have a climax, something strong and intriguing, something that you strongly lacks (no offense).Achromalia wrote: 5ev6p

but with regard to what i interpret from that... in my case, my concerns have less to do with life lessons and more to do with having any kind of life for anyone to gather insights from, at least not in a way that would be interesting to watch... this would no longer be slice of life in the conventional sense, but instead necessarily become an abstracted psychological drama as a result of the nature of my internal experiences
what cinematography can i hope to offer people? can people willingly find value in watching me while i'm watching/reading other things for 12 hours a day blankly half-absorbing things, organizing images/quotes/music i saved, daydreaming dissociatively in bed for 6 hours a day, listening to playlists and spiralling in neurotic horror and shame and disgust throughout most of that time? if i want it to be interesting and expressive, then any autobiographical short film i would make would just be... kind of a messy sentimental drama straddling between despair/horror/fear and deluded indulgent escapism, really
...i suppose not having been concerned with positive life lessons or positivity itself won't necessarily mean i couldn't possibly be mistaken about what "slice of life" can mean, and maybe that can include these kinds of dramatic inner experiences after all. perhaps i just don't understand what the boundaries of that genre are...?

A slice of life doesn’t need any of that, there are no requirements and no boundary. If audience engagement and revenue is out of the question, which it is for this list, I believe slice of life to suit you the most.
that's more understandable... i see :>ShinRun wrote: 4p6j2
