No, it is not a saxophone. The instrument is supposed to be an euphonium in reference to the anime series hibike euphonium (which you should totally watch). Although it is more similar to a baritone. The two are very similar but the difference is that the bell of an euphonium is conical, it widens up throughout the whole length of the instrument. Meanwhile, a baritone has a cylindrical bell, the tube stays the same length through the instrument and only opens up at the end.
