Greeting denizens! In this thread ye shall see announcements and ed proposals by OT Gov. Discuss the ed votes here or suggest new proposals.

Voters must confirm their vote on the voting thread after they've voted for it to be accepted.

The host for government voting polls is now required to provide voters with unique voting tokens. Once the results are announced, the tokens must also be present in the released voting statistics. Each voter will only have 1 unique token.

The host for government voting polls is allowed to vote, however they can only vote right from the beginning when no other denizen has voted.

oh wow, this will require quite the dedication from newcomers

i don't know how far are people willing to go for denizenship though

depending how you see it, i would've just met the new requirements for denizenship or have met the requirements 6 months ago based on these new requirements

also abraker you should allow people to get here from the royal directory

Aand the DAT has been formed! Here is the final swath of changes:
- Remove the 10 page post history requirement to becoming a denizen.

Note that if you are already a denizen you will not be affected by those changes.

That means, you will not lose denizenship if you already got it.

this sucks for people who were close to getting denizenship but now have to deal with 6+ more months before getting it

it'll take a long time for us to get any new denizens

I think having too much time to get the denizenship is bad, and will afraid newcommers.

8 months it's too much (I'm here since 10-11 months btw).

Just keep the 2 months.

The point of making the minimal time to be denizen this long is to let new people be here for long enough to understand the OT culture. Also, we have gotten to a point where new people are explicitly trying to be denizen as soon as they arrive. We want to make denizenship a reward you get for spending your time contributing to OT, not a goal to strive toward.

4 months seems better, but I would agree with the fact that some people jump straight into it just to become a denizen.

I have a notepad file where I track of stuff on OT, among which I track denizen candidates. These are denizens I expected to be qualified but never made the mark.. yet, at least.



Also looking at current denizens, the following were weak additions:

  • phantonym
    _relsei
    GPR
    Jonarwhal
    q9za

that's a ouch to some of these people, that must suck to be considered a weak addition
i liked jonar but he actually stopped coming on osu at all
i also like everyone else in this list

how are you guys making that many posts in such a short time anyway. 8 months is nothing compared to 10 pages of posts... I've been here for years and comment on pretty much everything that interests me and only have 7 pages :(

yea i guess the new rules is a good way to prevent post farming. and if anyone survived for 8 months probably means that they're really dedicated to OT.

That's the exact mentality that the new amendment wants to reward.
We don't want people coming in here to do a denizenship any % speedrun on us and then disappear.

Yep. I’m mainly here to talk to people because I have no one to really talk to irl. I don’t really care about the denizen ship like others do, but the ones who are trying to become a denizen have a long ways to go *^^*

Thing is I would disappear in a regular basis, I only sort of stayed in very recent time. You guys won’t the first couple of times I posted because the time lapse is so huge between each post back then.

Tbh I am scared now, seeing that there is a DAT team especially for denizenship. The thing is that I would be inactive in the month of April and March because of my term 2 boards examination. I guess I won't become a deizen easily. I have to try much harder. New goal added: Become a denizen by the end of 2022 or by the start of 2023. As you need to be active for 8 months straight
