At this point it seems there needs to be a gen 8, but also maybe not. Dunno. Gens are not strictly based on people knowing each other, but rather the culture of OT during that time. Gen 7 began with the start of the OT Gov stuff, but it seems things are starting to change. There is much less roleplay meta in OT now than at the start of Gen 7. There sorta seems to be a divide between the boxed group on top and the rest on the bottom.

i came to OT when Sosteneshion and Plini stopped posting and when Puzzle became a denizen, i seen some of the roleplay action at that time and i did in the action...well a bit (at that time i spent most of my time posting in FG)

so yeah, i guess we could divide it that time, like that gen being more into roleplay while this one being less into roleplay and more into "other stuff", but I'm not sure if its a good enough excuse to make an 8th gen or something (and im not even sure how the 8th gen text will be like)

We could also continue the roleplay stuff if we want, the problem is I'm not sure if the newer denizens will like it and if we aren't lazy enough to make one.

I noticed roleplay strongly correlated with how much I push it. One or two threads from me prompted people to make threads for the next week or two. Or so that's how I see it

That seems reasonable to me because I have absolutely no idea who TheLegendaryHD and some of the others are.

I think TheLegendaryHD, Sam, Sos, Plini and Puzzle should be considered as 6th gen since they've been more active when the 6th gen was still around.

They just winded up in 7th gen because they only reached post count requirements at the start of 7th gen.

I agree with this, judging by their period of highest activity, they'd fit better at that point. With the exception of Sam, I have barely seen them interact with 2020's 7th gen.

Also, I was the first denizen to come to OT after 5 months the last new denizen came. Puzzle obtained denizenship at 7th gen just by chance, a few days before I had obtained mine. Before that, last addition was quite a long ago.

I could have been gen 3, if this place didn't seem like 4chan to my 13-14 year old self.

If you see the list of when did each member of 7th gen first come to OT (or rather, when they first became active), you'll see that there's a 5 month gap between AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH and me. All others before me with the exception of Sam and Winnyace had their peak of activity way before I first ed OT.

Also, there weren't many newcomers and... well, had no idea what to post in here as I had almost no newbies as reference (thence it took me around 5 months to obtain my denizenship as well.)

The problem with that is that the event that marked the beginning of the 7th gen is the creation of the OT!Government and denizen like AHHHHHHHHHHHHH and myself have not seen this forums before the creation of the OT!Government. Idk about legendaryHD, Plini and Puzzle though.

Just make it a sort of transition gen then.

essentially, 7th Gen is like two groups that are the same generation. For Gen Z in IRL, anyone born after the Millennial Era but before 1999 is considered "Older Gen Z" and then after 1999 are considered "Newer Gen Z", but both groups are still treated as "fucking zoomers" by Millenials and older regardless of them having different cultures.

Honestly so long as someone does their part in making OT interesting and not like mafia subforum they should earn the recognition they deserve. So to become denizen you will have to make it to 10 pages without a 6 month or greater break within that time period.

I think it’s a good thing to lengthen the requirements for becoming a denizen. But at the same time, having such a basic set of requirements, such as x amount of posts within x amount of time, is a bad thing for OT.

Knowing of these current requirements for becoming a denizen, people are a lot more likely to grind posts to hit the 10 page mark. Ultimately, this will contribute to a surge in shitposts from people who’s main purpose is becoming a denizen, rather than putting in effort and quality.

This is what I propose. I believe that there should be a committee of currently trusted and tenured denizens who nominate and approve of new denizens. Denizens should not only be approved based on how long they’ve been around, but also by the quality of their posts, and what they contribute to OT.

Now, whether this committee is hand picked by the OT!Government, or nominated by their fellow peers, it doesn’t not matter. What matters is that the process to becoming a denizen is one that rewards good behavior, effort, and quality content/posts. Our current system here in OT rewards a lack of effort and shitposts.

We need change.

I think that this thread idea is great and we keep expanding it further if we want. however, I think that simply making a thread is too little, so I think of adding an extra requirement: the thread is question should , at least, 15 replies, not counting OP's replies to the thread he created.
