I listen to metal semi-regularly and I don't listen to JPop for the most part. I don't DISLIKE JPop though.

I do listen to metal, but it's selective kinds (tends to be more avant-garde metal). Right now, however, I've been listening to a lot of ska. I don't mean today's ska/punk or ska/rock, I mean a lot more early third-wave that sounds more like reggae, such as The Slackers, The Toasters, Skatalites, etc.

well im also excluded, but talking about Jpop just as Jpop is hard, i mean, it has a lot of sub genres also.
For example i dont like music like Koda Kumi, Namie Amuro, etc, but i like Ayumi Hamasaki.
Oh and i also love "Symphonic Jpop" like ALI PROJECT, very good music.

i guess i aim more to instrumental with classical elements or just plain rock (Jrock would be then) within jpop.
