Thanks for the amazing job ! started some days ago and i just finished eggman in normal, it's plain fun !
Nice work with the tutorial, recommended it to a friend.
I started with this tutorial about 3 months ago and i have to say that this tutorial was really helpful.

Unfourtunately something went wrong and i started only playing one certain hard Beatmap in order to it for days. ^^

The rest is history
mattitomatti
im gonna dl this thx
This is great, thank you for putting this together!
Thank you for the information! Really helpful :)
Is there any post like this, but to help make a better transition into higher difficulty?
Just started this game and wish I saw this earlier lol, still cant seem to get the repeated sliders though :|
Thanks! Great song list.
good tutorial
Nice tutorial, only wished i saw this when i was a newbie :p
I will this if I'm still a newbie
Thank you thank you thank you this helps sooooo much!! :)
wow thanks, i would've never survived without playing these maps
I have to it if it wasn't for this guide I might have just tried Osu for a few hours and given up even (Just like with the Korean DDR Beatmania) even though I'm playing on a tablet pc.

(I'm glad I stuck with it though even if the learning curve was like 1-2 days before I could actually keep up with the song's beat).

So Thank You Very Much For This Awesome Beginner's training Guide POKEBIS!!!

I'm really enjoying myself even if I can't help but think whenever I listen to music now, no matter if its on an mp3 player or in a Anime Music Video on youtube could I possibly find/play a map for that in Osu?

Anyway I would like to point out for other newbies like myself........

1.Stick with songs with the Easy Difficulty from this guide! Even if Orange Range seems to be moving too fast at first lol.
After you earn a C rating on this song branch out an select what ever song you want to play from Step 1 of Pokebis's Guide, because there is no certain order to play them.

(That's what I did and now I can last for half if not an entire song on difficulty normal even if I'm not making A's or B's yet but I am slowly getting the S's for the songs 1-5 of the guide's Step 1 even though I'm still struggling on Code Monkey/Nights/BrainCells/Hyadain Crash even though I have already gotten an S on Kotoko Agony!)

2.Practice and Practice to the point that you start humming/ singing the songs when your away from the PC! (Even if you can't tell in the 1st day you will be able to see a difference by day 3 or 4.)

3.Do not be a perfectionist ! Just bother to make it through one of the song's 4 sections! (An before you know it you will be able to make it through 2 of the 4 sections with no mistakes.)

4. Never Ever Click on that Skip Button on the bottom right corner! (Use this time to listen to the song/take a deep breath to calm down/take a sip of your drink/wipe your graphic tablet or tablet pc off with a tiny drop of water using a micro fiber cloth of course to get rid of any dried up sweat).

Warning: If your playing with a Graphic Tablet or Tablet Pc cover your screen or play area with a transparency to protect them from the spinners (That's what I'm doing) .

5.At this point you should be able to at least follow the tempo of a song like Catherine Warwick's Pollyanna/ Steel Angels Kiss Kara Hajimaru Miracle by lightly bopping your head/toe tapping/light knee rocking while playing through 1 of the songs 4 sections (My brother was absolutely astounded when he found me head bopping but side to side as I played through Steel Angels Kiss Kara Hajimaru Miracle's sections lol)

6.After your able to complete Steel Angels Kiss Kara Hajimaru Miracle following the beat with mistakes still present or not! Try finding some more anime themes you enjoy (Since those are not very long they will help build up your endurance for longer songs such as Jonathan Coulton Code Monkey/Nights Journey of Dreams Dreams /Initial D Running in the 90's /Kotoko's Agony.

My Recommendation for a Easy map for beginners that can play the Initial D's Running in the 90's map from this guide should check out

IceBeam's map for Rasmus's In the Shadows (Yeah, I enjoyed this song so much in a vampire knight amv over at youtube I just had to try it in the game.)

Also maybe other newbies like me would want to use a skin instead of seeing those boring slider balls in the game (I switched mine to the vampire knight skin with yuki punching zero back lol).
Thanks for the guide, hoping to get a high score on a song in the Top 50 ;)
This is amazing .-.
thanks a lot i was strugling in with some random maps but now with your list i am getting better (y)

yes
I started osu! using this. Nostalgic. Can't believe its already more than a year...
This guide really helped for me. Thanks a lot!
Even though it's only been a month I am already getting better!
Though I have a long way to go before I get good... :o
What you want to do if your a beginner is just to practice everyday on song that you can play. if you can master them play harder songs <3
This Map have a Problem: https://osu-ppy-sh.jeuxcrack.net/?p=beatmap&s=2434

No matter how many times I try, I always fail at the same place! I can try 1000 times, there is nothing better. I catch the wrong Circle permanently and no matter how many times I watch replays does nothing. I despair!

It involves quite of the map, where Circle appeared confused. Since I'm never coming back!
This beginners training appears to be really outdated. I used it myself to get into osu in 2013 but now i feel it needs to be updated as the mapping style of some of these maps feels almost a bit too oldschool.
yep. If I could start over I wouldnt touch this thread. The maps are really really bad and almost made me not want to play this game when I was starting out.
I agree
If you're using this guide, stop.
Thank you sooo much , i was looking for something like this to start out :)

Meetra_old
theres maps are harder then harder ones. Which makes no sense but the circle closes so slow its easier to click faster ones
Nice songs, I'll have to try them out :D
I think the beatmaps which suitable for newbie nowadays is beatmap which has Lanturn's Beginner :D
Thanks for the beginners pack....It help me a lot to improve my osu skills.. :P :) :D

Burai's Insane is pretty fun tho. ;)
Thank you for maps с:

I like this guide ! Good Job
This should be unstickied/unpinned/whatever-it's-called or at least updated. I don't think this is good training for beginners today. idk, im a scrub.
Thanks a lot !
Big help for me :D

guys is there any map to help me move on ar9 ? :D @3-3,8* map player :S
There's no point in specifically learning higher AR(and especially not AR9).
Reading higher AR is linked to your eyes and the way your brain perceives and uses the information given by your eyes. The quality and speed of that process will get better if you play anything and mostly the highest common AR you're comfortable on - which is most likely AR8 for you.
Some day it will just make click in your brain and AR9 feels natural, no need to force it through specific AR9 practice.

That being said, you can search for maps with AR between 8 and 9 by utilizing the external site http://osusearch.com and setting an AR-limit there(for example 8.1-8.7) to find maps that bring you closer to AR9 without playing AR9 itself.
Good Training for newbies :) And nice tips but for me the best tip to get better and better is just playing harder maps than you can with NoFail mode its really helpfull and after practicing you get more experience in osu! :)
I train on 4-5* maps + dt :D It very improve my reaction !
Deleted_1503728
Are there any good triangle training maps? Preferably 4-5 stars, any AR
great thread, thankyou! :)
this was 7 years ago D::

Wow, even in today's standard's that is a pretty good tutorial tbh
This helped me a lot, thank you so much! :D
.
Thanks for sharing.

There are good beatmap for newbie. Easy to learn and This Is Sparta is totally SPARTA!!!!! 8-)
Do I still need to practice those maps? I have been already playing this for a month.
It is hard to manage to get perfect on easy versions and on hard ones.
there are some good maps out there, you just need to search around :D
TRU3PER
I should have checked this out when I was a noob. Now I hate that kind of circles.
That's so great for new players ... Thanks a lot. The easy mode for a random track is actually NOT easy for me :p. So again thank you for that
oo thx for this m8
Thanks for the tips
If some maps are unavailable, try searching for them here: http://bloodcat.com/osu/

Don't worry with Korean language :P Just type in the song name, artist or some other key word and search, like here:
http://bloodcat.com/osu/?q=kalafina+madoka&c=b&s=&m=

Green triangles in upper left corner means that beatmap is Ranked and will give you Performance Points for completion :)
this helped me a lot when i started lol
but back then i didnt know how to make posts :^)
Lincher
Probably no one new gets into here xD
Anyways good maps for FL plays ;v
tyvm, im pretty new so these will be very useful
I got better in a week or 2 by doing this guide completely wrong! The first one for the beatmap Ikenai Taiyou I saw "if it's to easy skip to #4" I thought it meant do the hardest level on that beatmap. I DID ALL THE BEATMAPS AT THE HARDEST LEVEL POSSIBLE AND WAS ABLE TO DO 4 STARS AFTER! 8-)
Thanks for the advices! This tutorial is very useful and helped me out! :D
Good job!
Helpful guide for beginners, for me aswell :D
Just w8 so it isnt bad doing 3.5 stars in 2 weeks? Because I can't find an other way to improve....
I hope someone can help me find some maps that can help me improve :P
I'm actually a faster type of player. I mean that I seek maps with really much doubletapping etc. cuz Im bad at it. :? :(
Thanks a lot for this guide! Thanks to your beatmap list I could practica in a good way. I started playing osu! yesterday evening and now I'm able to play All Americans Reject- Swing Swing [Easy] with a 92% accuracy but I know I have still ways to go though.
guide for 5* please im stuck there
This is actually really helpful lmao. I only started osu! yesterday and I can say that I'm doing all right 8-)
Thanks. You've done a great job.

Thanks for the guide.
It's helped me a good bit.
this was 9 years ago...
If there was a version for the more recent kinds of mapping (because 2009 mapping is pretty outdated), that'd be cool.
It is still helpful and there's a reason why it's been a sticky for (probably) 9 years.
yes the reason is nobody bothers to remake it
This may works for me... :) :D

Helpful if you want to become WWW and FC old maps
But mapping has changed over 9 years and the maps here are different from the maps of nowadays. Also yes, I might plan to make a remake of this.

As a player of this new generation, I can say that old maps are quite interesting to me.
