When using fullscreen windowed, after switching focus back to game, keyboard input will not be counted for up to about 2 seconds

Running ce20150428.6
Since one of the latest cutting edge builds (from a few days ago?), the game sometimes crashes (i.e. the "error, click here to close program" dialog) when I press Ctrl-R to restart a map. I can't reproduce this bug at will though.

Since the 27.04.2015 builds i experience many many microstutters, like one every few seconds. Didn't change anything in my setup.

EDIT: Didn't have any broken sliders since then though C:
do you have vsync on? This happened to me with vsync on.
Vsync and frame limiter are disabled. Also playing in borderless exclusive/fullscreen.

With DX (stable/beta) it works fine.
Would love to test a build from 26.04. to be sure it's not my pc magically acting up with OGL. :3

Espionage724 wrote: 6k5n56

Was wondering why my textures were broken, but it seems to be because of another program hooking it's overlay into osu! (Evolve). Upon closing Evolve, textures are fine.

Not sure if it's something osu! devs can fix or Evolve's devs (overlay worked fine on Stable and pre-OGL cutting-edge builds).

I'm using a Radeon HD 7850 on Windows 8.1 with Catalyst 15.4 if it matters.

on another note, playing like this is interesting :p
Yep, also getting this when Evolve's overlay is enabled in-game

I've been having this issue as well. The game stops and "osu! has stopped working" window pops up.
It seems to be happening a lot more with tilde though.

Then i dont know what nK.ini Files are. There are no Mania File settings in my Skin, ini so i dont really know how to play CE with my Skins ;(
This has been fixed.
Issue 1:
  • If you have a lower fullscreen resolution than a windowed resolution set for osu! (which you can easily do by changing the resolution while in fullscreen and then turning fullscreen off), when switching from Fullscreen to Windowed mode osu! does not change the monitor's resolution back to what it was, but does change the window resolution. Effectively resulting in your entire screen being the screenshot below.
    p/4110313

Issue 2:
  • When in the cuttingedge build, if you select a different release stream and wait for it to finish ing the 'click to restart' button will appear. If you then go into the editor and back to the main menu, this button will be gone and osu! will re- the files again. This does not happen on the Stable build.
This has been fixed.
Issue 3:
  • Well, this is a known issue already, but if you go to Play -> Multi while having the chat hidden, the first line (that says "Attempting to channel..." will appear as a block of the colour the text is normally in. It seems that if text is loaded before it can actually draw it will draw as a block.

This is annoying me. Whenever you change builds, it defaults my resolution to fullscreen, changes my s filter to all and sort mode to Rank. I will look into it at some point if someone doesn't get to it before me.
On the results screen you can interact with the back button even if there are other clickable objects drawn in front/on top of it (such as names in chat). This doesn't happen with any other buttons, strangely. Cutting-edge specific, as I tried it in Stable but couldn't replicate it there.

Confirmed

Only happens on score results. Could not replicate elsewhere
After using the editor, the game does not switch to exclusive mode again for me.
Not sure if this is considered an issue or not, but the 'Recovery Dialog' (which is opened by holding SHIFT and opening osu!.exe) does not appear when on the cuttingedge release stream. Just thought i'd drop this in here as it's quite a handy thing to have in case something goes wrong.
Having skin.ini present forces the default skin instead regardless of any skin and "Error while currently loading current skin's configuration file" appears almost everywhere you go.

can you share your skin.ini?

For some reason. achieving the 25,000 plays achievement will make osu! display something else instead of the achievement image (below).

Video or screenshot showing the problem:

osu! version: 20150504.2cuttingedge
Issue(s) in this thread have been addressed by the following changes:
  1. Fix achievement sprites not loading correctly. (peppy)
The changes will be applied to builds newer than b20150504.2cuttingedge.

Please follow up in this thread if you believe more work needs to be done to fix the mentioned issues. If they have not yet been resolved, please provide any new details that may have arisen after this build.
Some changelog entries are cut in osu!. And no, VeilStar, this also happens on public builds since I don't know when, probably since in-game changelog implementation.

These are "Fix newly-created maps sometimes having a scroll speed of 0." (May 4) and "Fix score multiplier being not correctly calculated internal to the difficulty calculator." (May 1)

osu! version: 20150504.6cuttingedge
Issue(s) in this thread have been addressed by the following changes:
  1. Fix further cases of texture corruption. (Tom94)
The changes will be applied to builds newer than b20150504.7cuttingedge.

Please follow up in this thread if you believe more work needs to be done to fix the mentioned issues. If they have not yet been resolved, please provide any new details that may have arisen after this build.
Please let us know if you can still trigger texture corruption (blocky sprites) after this change.

Evolve s, this might have also fixed it for you! ;)
At the beginning of the song, before it starts, when i (de-)activate the map Skin there's still corruption at the other options like storyboard or Hitsounds. Happens randomly.
osu!Metro confirmed??!

Also note the performance impact.

They'll go away when i turn off Evolve in-game overlay though.
Cutting edge seems to overwrite settings to windowed mode, even though I had osu! set to fullscreen while in Beta. Upon going back to Beta, the windowed setting remains.
I am a Mac running OS X Yosemite and when ever I attempt to run osu! It says I must install this version of the .NET Framework: v4.0 .30319. Not only can I not run osu! but It also clearly says on the system requirements page that all I need is v3.5. Please help because I would like to play osu! :? :? :?
Issue(s) in this thread have been addressed by the following changes:
  1. Fix ranking s being clickable through chat. (TheVileOne)

Then I seem to be the only one with this issue. I forgot about it when posting, but I think I've mentioned it before.
It works fine on both Beta and Stable, but on Cuttingedge it simply doesn't open at all. I tried it on an older installation of osu! that I still had laying around. I updated it to the latest cuttingedge build, and it simply doesn't show up on that one either. I'm pretty sure this started happening after the ce45 merge.

A chatlog from the 27th of april:
[05:44] <VeilStar> Oh by the way... is that recovery/settings/repair dialog when holding shift and opening osu! supposed to be fixed? Because it's not working on my end, while everyone else says it does. Any idea?
[05:44] <smoogipooo> o.O it is supposed to be fixed yes

Anyhow... I think it's pretty safe to assume it's not showing up due to something on my end, given that I'm the only one with this issue. But I have no idea what that could be. Any direction you could point me towards?

Edit: Well shit. I've been doing this wrong all along. It seems like all I had to do was hold SHIFT trough the updater.
This explains everything. (Thanks, smoogipooo.)

TicClick wrote: 23y34

Sorry, missed that for a little while.
Anyway... Stable & Beta never had an in-game changelog, and still don't? Or at the very least I've never seen them and cannot see them.
Feel free to prove me wrong, of course.

Edit: accoring to smoogi it's in Beta aswell. My bad.

b20150506.3cuttingedge and still occasionally getting said corruption. All you need to do is keep osu! minimized for a while, and either the name of a who's first to post in chat after you restore the window, or (mostly) the title and artist of the song currently playing turn into blocks:

sometimes it's a random string from one of recent game screens (for ex., osu! once took someone's performance value with "Performance: " and used it instead of solid block twice on the same line, fiirst instead of timestamp and then instead of my own nickname in chat)

not sure if chat counts but can confirm still happening on names and other messages.
When I use the boss key to minimize osu! while in main menu it constantly uses 25% U (i.e. one core).
After restoring the window there are unusually many little triangles and I get rather low FPS until the additional triangles are gone.
Some triangles still disappear to early.

Also osu! turns completely black (with UI still operable though) when I add/remove my second monitor while osu! is running.

Major issue here, in the middle of a map, a slider's body will just turn completely invisible, only allowing me to see the slider ball (causing me to lose a lot of potential FC's)
It happens to every single slider after that certain one. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to have that glitch happen on an NF play (just my luck) so I could take a screenshot.
This just happened in the editor (puush cuz Shift+F12 didn't work either)
Since the lateest Patch i got some huge performace problems, such as big stutters, micro lags or my cursor just stops to move for a few seconds.
What Shizuyi said. Also osu! crashes CONSTANTLY, preceded by a graphical glitch.
Also causes my ENTIRE computer to lag for around 10 minutes after it crashes.
Issue(s) in this thread have been addressed by the following changes:

Don't worry, your issue is actually valid (and fixed soon) even though it doesn't happen while spectating. The menus should also be able to run at an arbitrary frame rate if so desired.

Just wanted to say that a few weeks ago I couldn't play on cutting-edge because I was getting a lot of imput lag. I tried it again and it works fine now :)
From what I see, cutting edge has a fullscreen mode option but Alt+Enter do not function.

My resolution displayed seems to not be saving. I had it on 800 x 600 and then changed it to 1024 x 768 to test some behaviour. I go back to options and it is back to showing 800 x 600.

Correct me if I'm wrong (with more details about the issue,) but this isn't cutting-edge specific?
This usually happens if you have an inherited (green) timing point before an uninherited (red) one. So check for that?
Topic Starter
If any of those error boxes trigger in ResolutionHelper the game will softlock. The game wont let you maximize the game until the resolution change is successful. But no values are changed so it will just fail all over again.

The resolution change fails if I try to change the resolution to a value in which the height is more than the width. The game let you have such a resolution for DirectX fullscreen. Although you could probably just fallback to some value.

This usually happens if you have an inherited (green) timing point before an uninherited (red) one. So check for that?
I forgot to say that I tried making a new diff with no inherited timing points and it still happened until I closed the game (not just the editor but the game itself).

This is the original diff;

Edit: so I tried to do what you said and this is what happened (the first window says that there are no timing sections and the second one says osu! has stopped working)

Can confirm happening sometimes as of earlier versions. Could not reproduce as of 20150510.ce

Just going to repost this as it's still an issue. (An annoying one for me personally, since I switch release streams daily.)

Issue 2:
  • When in the cuttingedge build, if you select a different release stream and wait for it to finish ing the 'click to restart' button will appear. If you then go into the editor and back to the main menu, this button will be gone and osu! will re- the files again. This does not happen on the Stable build.
This doesn't actually have to be the editor. Leaving the main screen to anywhere else will have osu! 'forget' that the update was ed.
This apparently is cuttingedge-specific (the same message would show up when sent to a stable client)

When sending a message whose first non-space character is a forward slash (e.g. " /test", minus quotes - note the space before the slash), it will only show up on the client of the sender but not on the client of the recipient.

@edit
sending the message without the space obviously counts it as a command instead, so it doesn't show up in either client. Just figured I'd clear this up

Pics might help explain

Can't replicate slider issues here. What graphics hardware are you running on?

Sliders are working fine for me too
I'm got sharp slider bug here...

I'm using AMD Radeon HD 6750M running on Windows 8.1 Pro
Cursortrail behaviour is weird in cuttingedge.

When osu! wasn't in focus for a while and the regains focus the cursortrail is very thick for a few seconds.
It seems to spawn multiple instances every time only one instance is supposed to be spawned.

I don't know if this is a thing when fullscreen is used, osu! is minimized, or minimized to the tray.
This was using borderless.

Same slider issues here with red points, version 20150512.2cuttingedge, in the editor and when playing.
Same result with the default skin.

AMD Radeon HD 7600M Series, res.1920x1080px, borderless osu! window. (Windows 7)
I'm not entirely sure what to call this, but I'm pretty sure I've noticed ever since the ce45 merge.

Basically, at the bottom right corner, if you have chat open, some odd 'glitching' happens for a single frame on the chat text.
I'm not entirely sure if this is correct, but it seems to only happen if the chat doesn't refresh often (because there are no new messages) and I've only ever noticed this in a PM to myself. (Which I do quite often for testing purposes.)

The video is zoomed in (750%) and slown down to 25% speed, but it's still a bit hard to catch.

So it is not a problem with my graphics card after all, because it is working as intended last update.
Got Fixed already
In the editor, if you open up any dialog/pop-up window, such as the volume or timing points, for example, you'll see that there are some issues with elements in these windows. If you then try to exit the editor the game visually freezes. Pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+S (skin refresh shortcut) unfreezes the game, revealing a boatload of corrupted (unskinnable) textures.

Started happening very recently. (I assume since the update that made pop-up windowsin the editor fade in.)

Are you using a Radeon HD gpu too?
I am actually using a different graphics card.
Since this update (20150513.1ce), I can't move the osu! window to another monitor anymore.

I was used to make it windowed (from borderless), then move the window to another monitor and remake it borderless, but it doesn't work anymore.

Edit: I also have the same bugs as Veil, sometimes the editor freezes and I have to restart osu! or press ctrl+alt+shift+S to unfreeze it.

After this update Sliders should work normally again and the editor forms should also all be good.

Furthermore exclusive fullscreen should now work on _all_ graphics cards. Please let us know if any of the aforementioned things don't work as expected.

I'll look into the issue with moving osu! to other screens later on, thanks for the report. :)

Can't change the resolution anymore when in full screen (I get an error that says it's not ed by my GC or screen), and it will stay on native.
Can't alt-tab as well, osu! will stay in front of everything (frozen) but not active (the thing I alt-tabbed to will be the active window, and when I click/type etc it will do that, osu! just stands in the way visually)
