i feel like becoming a BAT just for the title LOL. I don't trust myself in modding enough to be useful.

What are my chances of getting in if I just told you guys I would start modding again if I got in.

It's actually a very bad thing.

If one only applies for the title and miraculously s the BATs, one will not be motivated to do anything.
Being BAT is not something easy, just to tell you.

it's more of a joke. I'm debating about my chances of getting in if I actually decided to start modding right now again, just so I have something to show. In my prime I generally modded on average 1 per day, or a little more. But I realize that realistically probably isn't going to happen with my current situation and my laziness. To be honest, I do believe I have the right mindset, attitude, and knowledge to get in, though my main concern is how useful I will actually be, because it's quite dependent on the amount of time I decide to put in as being a BAT.

This would probably work out better if I didn't play league

I want to mention that we are now accepting applications to become a “mode-specific” BAT (Taiko, Catch the Beat or osu!mania) as those game modes are constently evolving and becoming more and more popular.

If not, those question on application form,
"Which game modes are you able to map/mod"
-> osu! standard check-box might make misunderstanding, "Oh, they are recruiting BATs for standard mod too"

Yes, standard BATs are also accepted.
He just wanted to say that mode-specific BATs are likely seen since other modes become more popular in osu. That's at least what I understood.

I would really like to, though I would need a ranked map, and only God knows how long it'll take me to get mine ranked.

It's something that is recommended, to show that you have a good knowledge on how this works. Some old BATs didn't have many ranked maps, as long as they do have a big knowledge about Ranking Criteria, this is not necessary. I think this is very rare and will be unlikely to happen now, though.

Good luck to everyone, I'm trying to as a Standard, Taiko and Mania Modder, I don't map taiko just because I've never checked how to do it, but I really know how to do it, played a lot of TnTatsujin and I clearly feel that my knowledge and creativity is very good, at Mania obviously that for modding I've mastered it, and Osu! still learning some of the 'tricks' but it's easy to me to mod them

I'm very well related with the rank criteria already so I think I can do the job~!

I can't map taiko because I never tried to map but I know that I'm reallly able to mod it though...

Just, they're different things, to mod you don't really need too much creativity for being useful on it, but to map well, it's kinda the opposite...

I think that mapping is for when you're most inspired, there you extract your full stuff...

1. You should be an experienced beatmapper. Being able to create your own beatmaps and ranking them shows that you understand the mechanics of beatmapping and that you are very familiar with the Ranking Criteria.

It isn't because Kurai stated that we are accepting applications to be a mode-specific BAT that we are only looking for those! People interested of being a BAT for Standard are also welcomed to the team! No worries.

Lokovodo, I suggest you hold back from using such witty, poorly constructed criticizing comments if you want people to acknowledge your point. Besides that, BATs do help to get maps up for ranked plays after the final checks. But, the mapper can still help them by also seeing what can be improved and fixed on their maps beforehand instead of trying to pull all of the attention to find problems that should have been fixed already. Also, if you can't respect the actual fact they are trying to do what they can to help the community on their free time, then don't post at all.

BATs are not gods, however much they might act like they are sometimes. Of course he can judge them.

I think the point is that you're not supposed to generalize the BAT as a bunch of douches that run around waving guns but whatever floats your boat man.
