Thanks a lot for this new UI, I found it pretty cool, more clean and modern than the old one, this time we can play with it without modding!


I like:
- new reverse arrows
- pause background
- main menu design
- new hitmarkers, even the 300's should be transparent

I dislike:
- I can't put my playfield anymore
- Spinners hurt my eyes and there is no more gauge

Unfortunately with these changes my skin looks strange, many things are shifted, so we need the new template folder to update this!

I'm almost certain they changed how hit-sounds are handled with this release (either that or I screwed up some of my files really bad), there are some songs that just don't sound the same anymore.

Spinner isn't all that great, to be honest... I don't like it and it confuses me greatly while playing.

I'm bothered that the new update has broke quite some things, aside from that and the spinner, it's just okay.

yeah maybe. i think the slider ball being the same color as the combo is a good idea though. the blue slider ball looks terrible on some colors, so why not make it look nice on all colors

Really digging the new style; very clean and modern.

I can understand why some of the more pro players might take issue with stuff like the falling miss indicators or the new spinners, but as a filthy casual I really like 'em. Maybe some toggles for that stuff down the line might make everyone happy?

This will happen at "in-between" resolutions like 1680x1050, where high res sprites are being used but scaled too much. I'll look into fixing this by using lower resolution ones in these cases where possible.

This happens on 1920x1080 as well. It's noticeable with the Mode icon, the ranking letters on the top during breaks while playing, and on the circles in the editor timeline. Not sure I've noticed it anywhere else.

hmm, is this me, or the playspeed seems get little got a lag for a while, and it makes more hard to smoothly moving?

I really like this update initially, but I also feel like the new skin doesn't have much performance . I also had trouble with the reverse arrows and the game feels different to me but I think that's because it's running better now. To me it feels smoother. The spinner I can go either way but I'm not sure it blends with the theme, I really like the dot in the center of the map length indicator and it got me thinking, maybe the spinner could have a clock hand to spin and the meter fills the circle?

HD is also really nice and even though the game plays differently for me now I'll get used to it for this, thanks a lot.

1) The miss graphic will start to fall after a while. If we could disable this for custom skins, it would work to make things more uniform with the hitbursts. It happens on taiko too.
2) The "Return to Menu" option in the results screen was moved to the back button on the other side of the screen. This is mostly muscle memory causing me the issues, but putting something back there would be kind of nice.
3) The SS icons don't look very good. You can't really tell what it is from just the letter.
4) The UI change happened halfway through me making a skin, so now I'm waiting for the new template skin and the taiko elements. .3.

I really like the skin ^.=.^ The only thing that really bothers me is the spinner because it overrides the old spinners which were sometimes really beautiful ._.

white and black slider repeats. They are black when the combo colours are of a lighter colour and white when they are dark.

System.ObjectDisposedException: Cannot access a disposed object.
and bunch of other symbols that make no sence to me what so ever.
Dont matter what i do play or just afk at menu.Cheers.

As theowest said, please create a new thread in this forum (Technical ) and give every details you can about your issue, including screenshots of the error message.

Even though being used to the old skin, it only took a few seconds for me to like the new UI.
However, in this latest update, I noticed it's no longer possible for me to "ragequit" a song quickly like I used to be able. Whenever failing or quitting a beatmap before, I'd be able to quickly press "Back to menu", and just as quickly navigate and press all neccessary menu buttons in order to quit in less than a second. I was able to press the buttons before then menu screen had faded in, but I can't do that anymore in the song select screen.

This may just seem like a trifle to you, but this has annoyed me immensly. (Also it's some degree of functionality sacrficed for a shinier interface)

Other than that, great update!

Double resolution skinning is now ed. Simply provide files with @2x suffix as you normally would. You still need to provide a standard resolution version too.

Example:

Perhaps it has always been, but I noticed just now.
Why when choosing a song at the top of the list is written order: "<source> (<artist>) - <title>"? Much more logical pattern "<Artist> (<source>) - <title>" or even "<Artist> - <title> (<source>)".
When I look up, it takes 10 seconds to understand the artist.

Meanwhile, in the beatmaplist on the website is quite logical pattern:
<Artist> - <Title>
from <source>

That's been there for a while, the reason it's because Source replaces Artist but was created so people didn't use the Source as Artist, for example you usually find "Persona 4 - Reach out to the truth" not "Shouji Meguro - Reach out to the truth".

Following that, putting hatsune miku as source should be fine.... because we usually find "Hatsune miku - some title"

Normally I'm not looking that way. In addition it is normal when it comes to search on website. But the list of beatmaps in the game - another thing, IMO.

What is written in brackets - is usually synonymous, the word replacement or explanation.
But it is impossible to say that Persona 4 and Shouji Meguro - one and the same. Or at least synonymous. It looks illogical.
Perhaps I am critically mistaken in my judgment.

The new default skin is very well designed, good job!

The only thing I think could be improved:
The red arrows which appear in the four corners when a section has ed could be matched better to the rest of the skin. Make them look more like the 'tick' symbol which is displayed in the center when a section was successful. (make them smoother; no black outline, just shadow)

Parts of the UI are fucked. All the info about your run should be presented on one screen after the map without the need to scroll down. As multiple people have said, the new spinner is absolutely fucked, as is the new "300" and "100" popups (way too discrete and indistinguishable, especially at the end of phrases). Changing the color scheme of the default slider ball is stupid too; makes it less like ouendan for no good reason. On that note, replacing the default pink circle "" with a checkmark? Really? Try to adapt before complaining. Most of the stuff works FAR better than you'd think.

Every new gameplay elemtn can be skinned back to how it was. If you don't like it, don't use it, but don't complain either .

I'm kinda iffy on the new skin. Things look a lot nicer, but for those that want to use custom skins, elements become out of place or are no longer in effect.
For example:

I get that the s who don't like the default spinner can use the old style spinner, but doing so will make the spinner centered to the screen like this and there the background just kinda sits there and makes the spinner look ugly. I tried making the spinner bigger to "cover" the background but it would appear that the maximum size for the spinner is 1024 x 768, which is a problem if you're playing on a widescreen monitor like me.

Another thing that bothers me at the moment is the ranking screen and how it's "incompatible" with custom skins. Everything is off centered and/or cut off. The fact that the song background is used in the ranking screen instead of playfield.png bugs me a bit, too.

I don't think these are bugs and they're probably just things that have been overlooked, but I would love it if the new osu! was a bit more compatible with old skins.

Disable the "prefer new skin" option. These are not bugs, but an incorrect setting at your end. if they are bugs, report in the appropriate place.

It's already disabled. You can tell from the second screenshot that the Watch Replay image is my custom one. If the Prefer New Skin was on, it would have used the new default skin's button instead.

Thanks a lot! I was playing OSU! all day long and couldn't do anything else. Now thanks to these chages I can finally forget about this game)) It's really hard to play now, I tried to apapt, even tried to change the speed of the mouse, but it's impossible for me, the old one was much better.

Nothing has changed which will affect the mouse speed or gameplay in general. But I guess if that wasn't sarcasm, then you're very welcome.

Oh yeah, I've noticed that too.

It feels like you're hitting the vacuum to me, but it's still nice to play anyways.

The so called 'explosion' of hitcircles when u click on them is a lot smaller, you almost cannot see it at all. (and no, I don't mean the lighting)
Just saying, because if you haven't done changes to them directly, could some other changes you've made affect them?

I actually like it more the way it is now and think it makes stuff more readable because there's less on the screen.
Try to get used to it, it's not such a big deal.

Can the black/withe reverse arrow algorithm take in consideration the map skin elements ? Because on some maps, skined elements makes the reverse arrow barely seeable like this :

I'll understand if you say you can't because it could add some more calculatons to determinate arrow color but if you can that may help for a few maps.

Why would you even make the hitcircle contrast like that? That'd make things far too busy.
