Early versions of osu! were a mostly isolated experience, with no online leaderboards for anything until 6 October 2007, when for public online rankings was added for osu!. Since then, all game modes have received their own online rankings. 5r3p1l
Numerous players have held rank #1 in each game mode under different ranking systems. The current system used by all game modes for online rankings is ppv2.
