Be clever, be witty, be honest, and when that fails, leave them. It's their map. If they ruin it by being stubborn, that's their problem, not yours. Modding is about helping people, but you can't help someone that doesn't want to be helped. Ultimately, they have to apply the changes and the map. So, really, the only point of rereading mod answers is for . There's no point in taking a mod answer personally, because it can't be personal, because you're talking about a physical object that's barely related to you as a person. It's a map. Not a relative. So, there has to be a line. If they start rejecting your suggestions - let them be. It's their map. Try to convince them but make the decision to stop when things become futile. Know when to say no.For reference: This post was directed at a now-deleted post, that did the "Can you even play this map??" meme.

Last edited by Nyxa 2015-05-27T10:28:11+00:00, edited 2 times in total.

Lazer

418 posts

ed July 2012

Lazer

2015-05-26T00:12:47+00:00

Great guide, I've seen alot of mods that had a bad approach (I've had a couple when I started mapping and they did NOT help at all.)I will actually post this thread on my page for newer modders to read

Tari

osu! I particularly liked the part about having the right approach as I believe that having the right mentality is crucial when giving others . The part where you connected the skills to real life was also a nice touch.Overall this was enjoyable to read and I appreciate the amount of work you put into this, but one thing I would point out is that the Map Functionality section can be a bit neater/more organized. The varying spacing between each paragraph along with words that are not subheadings bolded can be confusing to people when looking for subheadings (I'm a neat freak when it comes to formatting text posts). A possible fix for this is to equalize the spacing or underline subheadings.Anyways, this is a great guide and it might help to have this stickied so more people can view it.

Nyxa

848 posts

ed October 2013

Topic Starter

Nyxa

2015-06-02T17:16:36+00:00

Thanks, I'll fix that up.
