My response
My first point was a joke guys, come on do I have to put /j
2: I already stated the cons, the 'few people' are elected by the 'many people' and why is that? It is so actual things happen rather than trying to satisfy every person. And get over it, you didnt even meet the requirement in the first place..
3: The cons are greater than pros, its waste of time in making guideline for such a thing
4: Denizenship was never made to give power, it was a hall of fame, A way of preserving history. It has a value for me, maybe not for you.
5: Why are you even talking about it when you dont see any meaning in it?
I dont see a reason why it will reduce inconsistency, though I get your point. But in my experience, whenever there have been public talk about denizenship, nothing useful has came out of it and nor will there ever be. When it comes to discussion, everyone is a brick wall, even me.Ymir wrote: 2z2l6t
Hence why I never pushed for a complete democracy system anyway. But if reducing inconsistency and drama is something we are aiming for, then community voice should be considered in some way.Manishh wrote: 2k5q58
A lot of issues with this idea.Ymir wrote: 2z2l6t
Well it's still only the government who makes Denizens, I meant people outside the government have their say on each Denizen too, as opposed to a body of like 4 people.Patatitta wrote: 5t25
I mean the government is all denizens and i'm asking the community so idk what do you mean by thatYmir wrote: 2z2l6t
Not saying that I want this, but I have thought several times about a reality where the parliament doesn't choose Denizenship, but previous Denizens and the community do.
Usually I stop thinking about it because I have no idea how this would work.
It's one of the only ways we could make Denizenship free from Drama. Just throwing the idea out there, I'm personally fine with the current method though.
1: electing denizenship is the only thing a government do, you are stealing there job
2: Very slow and long process. This is like adding paper work in OT! Waiting for approval of everyone.
3: will need to create its own guidelines. Ex a guy won by just couple votes should be consider denizen or not
4: will lead to inconsistency since a government will announce if there rules or views has change for denizen but public will not do that. You don't know if the criteria for denizenship is even being considered by the voter.
As for stealing your job, that's funny.

the main issue is that people still see value in denizenship.
Addressing Manishh1. electing denizenship is the only thing a government does? Ok you are the government... do something other than that lol? You guys are the deciders of what you can do. be the change? Idk, very reductive and very american politician (I say all of these things, then nothing is done because I now have the position and will never be impeached)
2. An entire voting of everyone voting for the denizens seems like a good idea. You guys forget that making a post as an official body or through the GMT can and should be done when announcing official change or something like that. I literally dont understand why its a vote of a few people, but the rest of the OT world is unable to put their own opinion (except for when it comes to removing them... apparently).
3. OK THEN STOP BEING LAZY AND MAKE THE GUIDELINES, YOU WANTED THIS POSITION STOP BEING LAZY!
4. Again, criteria for denizenship is hardly objective. So much so that the current president has an entire thread for such a thing, and is actively wanting to change the current system. Voters in other democratic processes don't always know what the person is going for and they are only voting because they like the campaign or because they like the person in general. Being a denizen does nothing ed getting to vote in elections and being able to run, which can be changed on the whim from the president, so idk why it matters.
5. Stop holding a title with no meaning to a higher standard just because you met a post count in a year.

"Government should listen to the community"
I dont see a single proposal
